Hi Alex
Perhaps it would have been better to state your intentions and your feelings about the validity of the views of experienced people who operate within the regulated "250 Superkart" sport in the first posting of your thread, rather than at the end.
Or perhaps, they should change the title of this forum section to "250 Superkarts and Backyard Specials".
I believe Dean Martin was the first to astutely pick up that you had no interest in the replies you received and had a different agenda.
I wish you the best of luck with whatever you create, but I will predict that in terms of the Sport of Superkarting it will be totally irrelevant. But then again, you couldn't give a f**k about that . . . . . could you.
Apologies Mark, I may have just been disrespectful to a potential future competitor
Best Regards

The first post
| Alex Granelli wrote: | How do the 450 superkarts compare to their 250 counterpart? I read somewhere that they used the ktm 450 in a UK superkart series.
thanks |
Replies were consistent to the question covering reliability and performance on both the 450 and 250.
A lot of time, effort and expertise from a couple of posters should be commended for covering the question!
This is a forum where everyone expresses their knowledge and opinion we should value their contribution, that's why we are here reading them.
Then we get this......
| Alex Granelli wrote: | | I don't think years of experience always lead to the "best" answers of such unique questions and ideas. Nowhere did I ever state about running within the rules. I don't mean any disrespect and understand where people are coming from. If winning was the sole goal under the given rules, I would simply copy what the fastest people are running. This isn't my job, nor only hobby by a long shot. |
Please give me a break if the responses were not up to par from the experienced 250 2T and 450 4T superkart tuners within our industry.
Ian, double thumbs up on your last post. _________________ www.samzavaglia.com |

Ian, i think you just let a "Forum Troll" get to you. I doubt Alex will ever make it to the track.

Well, on a completely unrelated note, (like most of this thread) after an exhaustive search, I finally located my new hauler....
Want me to bring along some 4 stroke parts Sam?
It came with the Aussie Rosetta Stone, so I have been practicing... G-Day, put another shrimp on the barbie....
Lighten up guys, it's just go karts..... _________________ East Coast Super Kart Series

Well perhaps thoughtful informative responses are never really wasted. Even if there are complete morons that don't appreciate the generous effort that the experienced and seasoned racers, mechanics ,and chassis builders give to this forum , perhaps that is the beauty of this forum. The information is up to be viewed and used by anyone intelligent enough to understand it. You can't fix stupid. Intelligent people are driven by their awareness of how much more there is to know. It never ends. Be smart enough to learn from other peoples mistakes so you don't make them yourself. Or go off into a spiral of repeated stupidity that never achieves anything. Perhaps that is the unavoidable future of most people.

Some of us seem to have graduated with honors from the University of Civility at the College of Junkyard Dogs.
Come on, we have enough of this stuff around us. We don't need more associated with our favourite sport as well.
This is the stuff that turns people off to a sport. |

| Didn't try to step on Ego's here. Ian knows a ton obviously and has been very helpful in this thread and through PM's. Many of the questions were answered. I just wanted it to stay somewhat civil and informative. This was more a talk of unusual engines that could be used, not what is the best or most popular. I was trying to get past some of the bias, for example with my questions about the cr500. I don't think the answer is that it will simply vibrate too much. I've ridden both a stock cr500 and one that has been balanced, (huge difference), but some people act like it would be physically impossible, those are the worthless answers. It's obvious now that a 450 will work fine and can be very good. Thanks Ian, and others who PM'ed me. |

The difference between mounting big singles from a bike into a kart is that no one I have ever seen has used the head stay in a kart mounted application. Go ride a CR250 or worse, a 500 with the head stay not in use..... Your ride will be very uncomfortable. Bits will start breaking rapidly too.
Ian, you may want to try a head stay in a kart, it may have some benefit for you. Should definitely add cylinder and case life. _________________ Riley Will
