How did Acceleration send the package ? UPS or USPS. How were the brakes delivered ?. Also it could be because of the value is higher.

Duties will depend on the country of origin of the parts you have ordered. Sometimes if the value of the parts ordered is smaller (less than $100) They don't bother with duty. This doesn't stop UPS from charging an exorbitant brokerage fee though. I always try to get items shipped USPS to save the annoying brokerage fee.

USPS works best and when Canada Post finishes delivering it, they do not charge for customs/border clearance, only for applicable duties.

UPS charges a brokerage fee which you can avoid if you reject the package and say that you will come to their depot office and will clear the item yourself of the customs/border paperwork.

Thats why, USPS no taxes and UPS taxes. Dont ask me why but thats how it works. Any time you place a order from the USA make sure it is shipped USPS. Besides the USPS shipping most of the time is cheaper also.

UPS has its own brokerage, and processes the duties. That's why when we ship to Canada we try to use USPS when possible.

$121 in duties on a $300 dollar shipment does not sound any where correct. Actual duties should have been about $12. Take a closer look at your bill from UPS as to what the different charges were.

UPS is set up more for commercial shipments and, as such, has to file a lot of paperwork and do a lot of recordkeeping and paperwork. Think of shipments between General Motors Canada and General Motors US.

$121 still does not sound right for a total shipping/Customs, etc, etc bill. Take a look at the billing break down of charges. There may be an error.

USPS is oriented more towards personal shipments. Aunt Sally sending a scarf to cousin Sue.

37 years working on the border.
