Paul,
I'm sure that the dealer you bought it from needed a coil to sell to a customer and did the same with the manual and just forgot to replace them. However, you can look at the cylinder nuts to see if the motor has ever been apart. One of the nuts, usually the left front one, is marked with red paint from the factory. The paint should flow from the nut to the stud without any signs of breakage. If this is still intact, you should stop worrying.
