Hey guys. Noob here, just getting into race karts. Owned an invader yard kart for years, live near infineon so I figured I'd step it up.

To the point, I just picked up these Italkarts with stands. One has brand new tires on it. Paid $3,000 for both. Now, did I get a good deal? Try not to be harsh, remember, noob.

Thanks, love the forum although it could use a vBulletin update or two. lol

Don't know alot about the Italkart but they look like they both have Leopards and I know that Italkart makes a pretty good product so I'd say you did pretty well.

Based on the nerf bars I'd venture to say that these are older than 2002 but look like they are in pretty good shape and haven't been abused.

Even if the Leopards are box stock, if they run I would say they are worth at least $700-800 each, depending on condition.

As for the new tires, if they have been sitting for a few years then they are likely not very good now anyway. But they should work just to get some seat time. It's not as much about how much rubber is on them, but what the condition of that rubber is.

You will likely hear this from several posters but get together with experienced Leopard karters and work with them for at least your whole first day, even if you have to pay them. It will be $$$ well spent. Ruining a crank by improperly installing a clutch will cost you about $1000 (don't ask me how I know Rolling Eyes ). Proper carb tuning will also save you on a top-end rebuild. Have this person also go over the kart with you to check all safety issues. Make sure everything that should be pinned, double-nutted, safety wired, etc., is done. Also to look for anything that is worn out or needs replaced or tightened.

But all in all, I'd say you did good and get out there and get some seat time.

Really good stuff here! Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate the feedback. I'm thinking of going up to sears with the karts just to talk to people and get their opinions/experience.

If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know. I love to learn and Karting is my new passion!

Call Brett Buckwalter at Cameron Karting, his shop is at Sears (I also grew up near, old school haha) and he knows the Ital very well. He will make sure you enjoy your first outing and stay in the sport...

Hey Matt. Great! I'll get that Friday off and make my way up there to meet! I really appreciate the offer to help. About what time where you headed up? I saw on the calendar there's open practice from 10am-5pm both days.

I'll PM you my phone number. See you soon!
