|
|
I'm brand new to karting and recently picked up a 2009 MR29. The guy who sold it to me met me at the track and helped me get the new seat installed and everything up and running and was very helpful. I'm now looking for more info on how to dial the chassis in. I've found generic charts and things to do, but was wondering if there was any Merlin specific info to be aware of. I know for starters there seems to be way too much negative camber in the tires as the inside is wearing very fast compared to the rest. I tried contacting merlin directly but their contact page has an error on it when I try to submit a question.
For details:
I'm 200 lbs 6'0" and plan to run in the Yamaha Can class at New Castle, IN. I'm not sure what else to include, but let me know if anyone has any advice.
Thanks!

The MR29 is built for smaller senior or junior drivers, so it isn't really going to work all that well for a driver of your size most likely. However, it's a really good kart and was always very easy to setup for us, with lots of success in WKA competition in the hands of Tommy Andersen and I.
It might be okay at New Castle, since the track is pretty fast and flowing and you aren't going to see a lot of tight corners that work the chassis extra hard. But like I said, that kart is built for someone who is more along the lines of 5'4"-5'8", 90-140 pounds.
We've got a lot of data and old setup sheets on the kart, I'll see what I can dig up. _________________ T.J. Koyen
