Clark, believe me, I had a great time on the full course, and was glad WKC gave me the opportunity to run it. And it was a smart strategy to use "new" to attract some extra entries.
I'm in a TaG. Personally, I prefer the North Course with its high-speed turn up the hill and blind apex at the top. Flying over the crest of that thing is a challenge...but one that is satisfying to get right.
In contrast, while I loved the entry to the Oak Tree, the exit made it one of those frustrating turns that is so out of sync with the rest of the track that getting through it perfectly still feels pretty crappy. To me the full course gives up the best turns to add a couple of huge not very challenging straightaways and an irritating corner. Not worth the money in my opinion... I'd rather see those funds go toward getting us back on Thunderbolt.
As always, WKC put on a great show. I'm very much looking forward to Summit. _________________ Keith Buffo

| Fry Racing is w/Keith on this one. While the full course was fun to do for the first time since the late 60's, the North Course's "high-speed turn up the hill and blind apex at the top" is a 'hold your breath' moment in a Controlled Laydown every lap. |

For myself and Mitch White, we have no interest in running the North Course. You can call it what you want, but we very much enjoyed the esses up the hill, Oak Tree, and the back straight. _________________ Brian |

That's because you can't drive...and they posted the picture to prove it _________________ David Cole

Wow ! Cole fired the first shot ! Let's see - how many wins at Road America, Daytona, KART Nationals.............
I can say for a fact - in my 8 years helping Brian at the track, that is only
two of three 'offs' that I have seen Brian be part of. He had a LOT of help with the 1st one Saturday at VIR !! Holy smokes - bent bumper, silencer, pipe. What a ride !! |

| Brian went off the course - so what. He probably got back on and then lapped that 250. Besides, that may not even be Brian driving....lol |

Having run all three I probably like the full course best, but I wonder if it is really worth much extra money over the North course, which also has its charms. _________________ Team Stooge 66

By the way I had the pleasure of pitting for the first time next to the Isgrig/Wilhelm/White team, and they are some true southern gentlemen. Thanks for supporting our race and making the long haul from R-Kansas... _________________ Team Stooge 66

He did not get back on a lap that 250. That pic was from the unlimited 1 race and the off turned his water pump off and blew his motor. However, he did get punted off in the f-125 race all the way to the trees and than get back on to make up 30 secs to pass me on the last lap for 2nd place. So yeah still pretty good.
And if I had my choice between any VIR layout and NJMP thunderbolt I would go for thunderbolt. That track was a blast and had awesome rhythm. _________________ Jeremy Baldi

It does do us all good to see that even Brian Wilhelm goes off-track occasionally too! _________________ Keep on kartin' llb.

It's a long frickin' way out to the trees, I can tell you for sure. I couldn't even see the track.
I did talk to Mike Lattos last night (the guy that lost his brakes and punted me), and the Dr. does not think his foot is broken, so that's good.
As for you and your smart-assery Mr. Cole, I must say there were a couple of times this weekend I was wondering if I could drive......... _________________ Brian |

Yup, when I do it, I do it big!
A BIG thanks to Tony and Mitch for helping out with the motor swap and a big cleanup on Saturday night. Red dirt, sand, and gravel makes the kart a little gritty. My wife calls it "Ag racing".
It was a pleasure to meet you Martin, and so many others that stopped by to introduce themselves and say hi. We like how you guys operate over there.
If you are ever over this way, your need to try one of our KART events, I think you would enjoy it. _________________ Brian |
