Anyone done it before? From snooping around it looks like I'll need to scuff up the surface and use a primer (any suggestions for ones I can find at a local auto parts store?) I know it won't last forever but I just want to paint over them evenly as they're chipped up as is. Thanks.

Matt

Heavy grinding and sanding are out, of course!

I would try to avoid doing much work near the beadlock holes. Flat tires aren't fun.

Thanks for the advice, I was going to sand some to scuff by hand, I'd think this wouldn't read the ignition point of magnesium? I'll put paper towels in the beadlock holes, so paint does not get in the threads.

This seems like a nice idea, but I'm sure you'll scratch them again right away. Its it really worth the effort?

I remember my son's first kart. He was 11. I sanded the bodywork down and painted it all pretty before the first race. That was 11 years ago and I'm pretty sure that was the last time I bothered to paint anything on a kart. I have re-powder coated a few frames though, when they got really bad or to sell them.
