After about 37 hours run time getting ready to replace my piston and ring. How do I check the bottom end to see if it is OK. Any spec on how much play is allowed for the rod or anything like that?

Thanks

If you have 37 hours on ANY Rotax crank and you don't get it rebuilt when you put in a new top end, you are asking for trouble.

Joe, I think the norm is 10 hours between top-end rebuilds with full rebuilds coming at 40 to 50 hours depending on use. So you are definently in the line for the bottom end rebuild if running the engine hard and racing competitively.

Thanks gentlemen. Any advice on getting the engine rebuilt without breaking the bank?

how much is a rotax rebuild?

Since these motors are sealed, the rebuild needs to be by an authorized dealer shop?

If you plan on running in events you'll most likely need a passport and matching seals. If so then yes, you'll need to take the motor to an authorized Rotax service center for the rebuild.

Give or take, the cost of rebuilds is roughly $300 for a top end rebuild and $1000 for a full top and bottom rebuild.
