Tim,

If looking for a lighter kart, look at a MWK. Get with Sam Linardt who runs your class in MARRS. This is what Brad drove a couple of years ago and was fast. I believe he might have one for sale. Brad is 6'1'', 210# and had to add weight for him to make 390#. We bought his from Russells.

As for removing the battery, DON'T!!! This is one thing I tech. On another thing, don't mess with the clutch either!!!!!!!

As for fuel, you shouldn't need anymore then 3/4 of a tank for the 30 minute race.
