Today's Top Story is an editorial from myself on my recent experience at the WKA National Road Racing Series. I can't stop thinking about how great of a time it was, so I've shared my experience with everyone. Be sure to give it a read. http://www.ekartingnews.com/news_info.php?n=20454

Great to see you back in the driver seat David. I know the feeling after not being in the seat for almost 5 years, it was amazing to get back driving last month myself.

The grin on your son's face says it all. I bet he has countless hours of 'seat time' already.

Thanks everyone. That weekend just goes to show why we are in this sport. Surrounded by family and friends while getting that 'need for speed'. A couple of bad races on the track is still better than not being at the track at all.

Great article and completely relate. Karting just has an innocense to it that bleeds family and fun. My son for to experience for the first time daddy racing last week and I can't wait for the next time him and I can go again.

David,

It was nice seeing you at the track and in a kart. It adds creditability(spelling?) to you as a reporter. I could see your passion in the sport.

Please thank your dad for helping my son in the Yamaha Jr. class. He helped him with his lines in the practice sessions on Friday as we had never been to Grattan before. He followed him several laps on the track to give him a proper evaluation. He was a joy to be around. He also gave us some advice for traveling back home.

PS
He told me that you had plenty of room and I should stay at your place next time. I just need to get your wife's permission!

Thanks,

Mike

David,

That was a great write up, and WELCOME BACK! Road racing needs just a little more press, and pieces like yours are very positive. A road race weekend does not go by without someone falling on hard times and another racer stepping up to the plate. At our regional, a 4-cycle racer blew his motor in his last practice. A short block was donated by one pit, parts etc from my trailer went into the trackside build. By then end of the weekend, the racer had a first and second place finish in the books. We are all like family and everyone in the pits acts as you can expect.

We are working hard to keep road racing alive, and I appreciate your kind and words.
