Ian - congratulations - well done mate! Sounds like you had a great weekend down under! And this SAFE motor sounds like the business! Is it a billet motor or a cast motor? Do you think it will ever be homologated for the UK & Europe? You need to get one of those over on state side!!!

Did you get the package and the email?

There's one coming to Laguna Cool

Its is, however, an earlier evolution than the current one but still has plenty of boogie....

It MIGHT even be for sale Wink Wink

Hi Anthony

At the moment CIK homologation is being considered.

It's a billet cased motor, with watercooled cases.

It's a possibility that this exact one might end up at Laguna, just depends on some sponsorship coming off. Should know one way or another, shortly.

Yes your package arrived and I will "be into it" after we return from the UK Cup meeting in Ireland.

Best Regards

Ian Very Happy

Ian that is good news that homologation is being considered - the more the merrier I say - it's good for competition!

You say the cases are water cooled which is very good - does the DEA have water cooled cases?

I hope that Darren, Scott and you Ian can make it over too - this could turn into one of the very best Laguna's ever! Cool

And Ian no hurry on the package I will pick it up from you when I get there in June - can you check your email at Viper.
Thanks.

Hay Ian,

In Di Spires new book there is a bloke mentioned named Ian Harrison (page 165/166) that worked for Zakspeed, a German F1 team.

I quote "Ian used to nip by on the first evening after the garage had been set up and tap into the Benetton sound system, running a wire next door to get the same music at minimum cost and effort."

Are you one and the same?

Hi Thomas

Unfortunately not myself, just sharing a name!!

Also Anthony asked about the DEA cases. They are not watercooled in the same sense as the FPE's, PVP's and SAFE's, in respect of not having a full waterjacket around the crank chambers. The water passes from the pump along external "tubes" to the very front and rear of the crankcases were it flows across a gallery and up into the cylinders.

The DEA crankcses are heavily sculptured and finned which no doubt aids case cooling. Interestingly, I believe the cranks are also slightly "offset" rather than truly "inline".

Best Regards
