Binding Up

I was wondering what the opinions are on binding up? What are the solutions? I know you can add caster and know the effects of it. So lets just stick with basic seat position, verticle CG's and so on.

Ways to loosen up would be softer axle, shorter hubs, moove the rear wheels out, take out a 4th rail if avaialable or rear torsion bar, and also basic aluminum wheels have seemed to be a bit more free then the cool looking mags or magnesium wheels.

I have a binding up problem with my new Margay. I talked with my distributer and he said the seat should be lower (relative to the rear axle) than is suggested by the manufacturer. This implies, with all other measurements being equal, that leaning the seat back will lower the CG and lessen the binding problem. It should also loosen up the rear. I will be testing this assumption this weekend.

Asside from that, see the post about removing grip. Much of that will apply here.

Binding up is not so much of a tight condition. Binding happens ussualy out of the turn as you chassis sets down. A soft axle and short hubs help but if your chassis is right, it will still roll freely throughout the the turn without these.

You can also put in positive camber or go to a wider rim to reduce sidewall flex.
