Cheap and/or home-made tools to check Toe in/out?

Does anyone have a cheap method for checking toe in/out.

I don't want to buy and XYZ tool to check the toe in/out. It seems theirs got to be and economical way to get an accurate measurement on the toe.

Anyone have any ideas or ways they do it without buy an expensive tool?

I use a length of string. It works and you can't get cheaper.

Have the driver sit in the car and then measure from the inside of the front of the front front rims and then from the inside of the rear of the front rims. Repeat the measurements from the inside of the properly inflated rubber.

Toe in/out is easy. But at some point, I highly recommend that you at least beg, borrow, but not steal someone's alignment tool. The reason is you must measure your camber. I had an ill handling kart for far too long only to find out that I had a 2 degree tweek in one of my spindals.
