Our testing has shown the MG-MZ to have slightly more grip. Check out the chart below.

I don't know about "more" grip but a more consistant grip better overall tire (IMO) is the MG.

Nice Chart. From my experience I always felt that the MZ's had better grip than YGC's but the chart actually shows they are 2 points softer than HC's and 2 points harder than GC's.

One thing for sure (IHMO), the MG's wear is significanly better than anything I have run from Bridgestone. (And they are cheaper)

Here's what I found today at the track. Compared to a set of MG's with only .11" of rubber left (measured with a caliper to the bottom of the wear indicator), the YHC's had about the same grip. I have a feeling that the YHC will be a good summer tire.

I hope it's warm in Vegas!

The mg's might have a good tire compound but the rest of it sucks!! The tires debead so easy and I have seen many fall off while on the track. The quality is not good. The YHC is a better tire imo.

I cant disagree more.

We run the MG's in Florida and they have proved extremely reliable.

Even if money was no object I still would choose them over the overpriced Bridgestones !

Great job in Vegas. On the MG's we have exactly the same experience. Great tire, great performance. As Rick says the grip is very consistent down to the cords. As far as issues; I haven't had any in the 5 sets I've gone through, nor have I seen any.

I ran MG's (Yellow) during a road race at Motorsports Ranch and was very impressed. I normally run a Bridgestone YGB or YGA at this track and, in my opinion, the MG's had equal grip to the YGA's and better wear than the YGC's --I ran the entire weekend on one set, that's four 15 minute road races and the tires never began fading away in any race.

Also, the tire came in faster --half way through the warm-up lap my tires were ready to race.

In addition, they are less expensive than the Bridgestones and if you don't have a dealer near you, you can order off their website with free shipping.

FIrst let's clarify one thing. We have a direct sponsorship from MG. However, we have run the MG tires for several years, we didn't start running them because of the sponsorship. Instead we ran them of our own accord because we race to win and they gave us the best tire, IMHO, to try and accomplish that goal. It was because we were running them and winning with them that we eventually got the sponsorship. We'd be running them even wihtout that.

In road racing, the MGs gave a "feel" very similar to the 6" tires we had always run. They have a very stiff sidewall, especially compared to the new YHC/USA tires. W originally did have some trouble with a few popping the bead loose in high sped corners(80-90+mph). However we found that it was only happening with one partiuclar make of rims. On that set of rims we had to run higher pressures or bead lock them. On other rims, including the ones we use now, bead lokcs are not necessary and we can run what ever pressure we want.

The do seem to come in quicker and they also seem to remain consistent for longer. In 15" heats you may not notice, but in a 30" race, it was typical for some of the other brands we have run to start to go off in the last 5-7 min of the race. Some of the fastest laps we have run wiht the MG-MZs have been that late in the race....or even on the second day of running them. I would also agree wiht MArk in that they do seem to offer the performanc eof a softer compond tire, but still maintain the wear and lifespan of a harder compound.
