|
Bought a FJ kart form a friend. His son retired several years ago from FJ. The kart has a WF motor, but no restrictor or slider. Where do I get the slider? I think I can get the old restrictor from Doug Gill, right?
I have a lot to learn. I jsut took it out of the truck and parked it. It's time to clean it up, fit a seat for my daughter, and start it up. She's a tall 9 and REALLY bored (and crowded) with the FJC kart.
The 7-year old is tall, too, but will run the FJC for another year.
And silly me, I bought MG yellows last year. Time to look for Reds.
Any additonal tips (or directions to useful threads) would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
P.S. Anyone willing to give suggestions on where to buy pedal extensions and seats? |

Hi David,
If you are on FB, the only public reference that I can find so far is on the Solomatters' FB page. And here it is:
SoloMatters
If you are a parent with a FJB competitor running a Brigg's World Formula engine please contact Brian Harmer (bharmer@scca.com) to get your slide restrictor that will be required for use starting 4/1/2012.
Don't forget JB starts at 8 years old.
I am pretty sure this will also be in the Fastrack coming up.
It wouldn't hurt to ask around on the autox forum here to see if anyone wants to unload their kiddie seats and pedal extension. I usually get my stuff from Comet, but any good kart shops should have them. |

Brian Harmer at SCCA has the kit and I have also seen installation instructions from Brian also. It's a very nice and well designed kit free courtesy of Briggs and Stratton. You might have to pay shipping/packaging which I don't know the details of, but I know they are not cheap to make and thanks to Briggs and the parents involved to make this happen.
Don't forget the minimum weight is now at 265 and the rule begins in April 1st. |

Dave,
Don't forget we have run the WF for quite a while now, if there are any questions or issues, just give me a call.
Alan
BTW, for everyone else there is a WF for sale on eBay right now, item # 220964219235.
The valve springs would have to be put back to stock. And, it would not have the latest flywheel/PVL ignition package. Appears to have been well taken care of. I'd inquire as to whether the mount is included with the engine... |

| All Briggs WF program items is now currently being handled by the SCCA office directly. You might want to contact Jennifer McAbee at the SCCA office to get the latest. |

The header pipe is supplied with the motor. The silencer is made in two pieces which slip fit together.
http://www.tsracing.com/store/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Product_ID=4190&CATID=30
That is the RLV 5447SK-8 Kit, which Includes: Pipe, Silencer & 2 springs.
Because the parts slip fit together, they can ecome hopelessly stuck over time. I used some anti-seize compound on the parts where they connect. After two years they still came apart with not much more than a decent tug.

Thanks, I don't need much encouragement with anty seize, I put it on every bolt on my cars and will do so on the exhaust as you mentioned.
Should be getting the new engine, exhaust, mount etc. sometime this week and have to get moving to have the kart ready for our first local event. |

Well, my son is running SCCA SOLO and we are in Indiana, our local track Newcastle has been open close to a month now but there are no WF sprint classes there so we just do track days and SOLO.
Good idea on the time share LOL |

Hi Harold,
In last week's KAC meeting, the members voted down the WF spec motor proposal. So there is no spec motor requirement for this year, and it doesn't look like there will be one next year either.
The WF engine is 100% legal to run however; and if all goes well (that's definitely an "IF"), the WF rule for SCCA should closely resemble to the IKF rules.
The WF throttle restrictor rule for JB is currently enforced and based on the karts we have seen in the events, it's working well.
Next KAC meeting will be my last as a KAC member. (Going back to car class full time) It's been a fun three years in F125 and two years on KAC. See you guys at a Tour event or Nationals soon. |

Well that is too bad, I had to rebuild the KT100 or buy a WF, the price was a little more for the WF change over but I figured that I may as well change over to it. New motor arrived today ...
I hope that it is at least in the ballpark performance wise at 285# , it would have been nice to have everyone on the same engine without having to spend 1k for a rebuild every couple of years.
On the up side I'll be able to take my son to do track days without having to stress over the KT tuning or blowing up. |
