I use the overhead cabinets for tire and wheel storage, one set fits in each cabinet perfectly.
The bottom couple feet of the walls is carpeted. I did it to keep the walls from looking dirty all the time from stacking stuff against them.
The top of the work bench folds up and holds my axles.
When I bought this trailer, I stripped out the floor, walls, and ceiling. I insulated it and put in new everything. I did all the cabinets, Rino Lined the floor, built the folding work bench and axle racks. Took me over a year to get it all done.
I transport my karts on the stands, backed up to the E-track. Its simple and clean. |

Jimmy: Great job on the interior makeover.
Where did you find the cabinets you used?
Got a picture of the karts loaded in?
Is that white tileboard on the walls? _________________ Does a culture based on seperation and competition, of scientific sophistication and mideval religion, offer happiness even as it ravishes the Earth that sustains it?

Here is a photo of a 8x10 trailer with stacking karts that uses a garge door rail for the top cart to be lifted and slid in. This was a forsale item a few years ago and we were looking for a way to transport 2 karts and all the stuff.

The cabinets are from Lowes, they are called Gladiator.
They are made of thin metal so they are not the toughest ones out there but they are pretty light and much cheaper than aluminum.
The overhead cabinets are the same cabinets under the work bench (without the droor), I cut them in half, flipped them around and screwed them to the ceiling. I just flipped the door around. It would take me about 3 hours and a bunch of pop rivets to build a set of two.
I think one aluminum overhead cabinet was $220, I was able to build two of these for about $135.
If you plan on installing overhead cabinets, you mite have to reinforce the ceiling. When I had the ceiling out, I built a reinforcement before putting the new ceiling in. Otherwise their would be nothing to bolt the cabinets to.
Yes the walls are white tile board from lowes or home depot. I put half inch plywood up on the walls behind the tile board. Make sure you both glue and screw the tile board to the walls. If you use just screws, it will swell in between the screws and look like crap in about 6 months.
If I get a chance this week, ill take some pics of the karts loaded. |

Joey - you have a closeup of how you mounted / carry the kart lift on the wall? Curious what you used to keep it tight. Great design... |

Good stuff guys. Like the OP, I'm planning on outfitting a trailor this summer specifically to house and haul my two karts. And for what its worth, the cabinet supplier Jimmy utilized has a site - gladiatorgarageworks.com - that you can see all the options in that product line.
Keep those ideas coming!
@ Joey: Can you put up a pic showing how much room is left up front in your 6x10 after the karts are loaded? |

Hey Todd,
This wasn't my trailer just someone who was selling online that I grabbed the photo so we could see how he rigged up the overhead door lift. Looks like he was using 2 large red hooks to hold the lift on the wall. |

Here is a link with interior and exterior pictures of our trailer on the manufacturers website:

Its an 8.5X20', all aluminum Intech trailer built in Nappanee, Indiana.
The build quality and attention to detail is amazing compared to other trailers we have had. They will customize everything down to your exact specifications.

With gas prices skyrocketing, I tried to go with as small a trailer that I could still fit 2 karts in, and secure overnight for travel races. I found a LOOK 5x8 that had a larger opening width than other 5x8's, almost 54". By moving the rear hubs all the way in on a normal kart, they can be rolled in on the stand easily. I installed E-track inside, and the wooden brackets clip right into and hold the kart securely. I have since replaced them with a little heavier duty design, then is supported against the wall, but they still clip in. The brackets are at just the right height that if you roll the kart in, they lift it right off your stand and you can tie it down. It works very well.
Another kart fits underneath, with my kartlift pro strapped to the door.
