Did you see "Racing Dreams" ?
I thought it was excellent. The best part about it was that it was more about following the lives of three young people than it was about karting. The karting was more of a frame in which to watch their lives.
I actually think Brandon Warren sort of stole the show because of his unfortunate family situation. Obviously his grandparents really care about him, however it has to be tough to grow up without your parents. It is sad that after winning the series championship he had to stop racing due to a lack of funds. |

By the way what series were they running? Was it the WKA Vega Speedway Pavement Series?
I have never seen 4 strokes going so fast before. When I have seen clone karts at the local tracks, or even when I have seen Briggs powered karts in Gold Cup videos, they always seemed really slow.
Were they running the same type of Briggs engines in the pavement series? Or is it because since they were only running on ovals, they didn't have to slow down that much for the corners, so they were able to maintain higher speeds. They said they only had 12-15hp, yet they claimed they were running at 70 or 80 mph. That seems really fast for a Briggs class. Were they exaggerating?
I actually checked out the price of a chassis. They are only about $1300 for a BRAND NEW basic chassis, and even the top of the line models were only $2500 dollars. The whole thing has gotten me interested in trying 4 stroke oval racing, except I don't think they run the class at Norway, Badger, or any of the other local tracks. |

I saw it the first time around and wondered how many folks it kept out of karting.
It seems to celebrate total defiance of rules and track policies by spoiled brats and indifferent parents who when the kid does brazenly break the rules get pissed at the sanctioning body or track security.
Yeah, great show. |

Yeah, great show. |
Bob, what movie did you watch? I don't recall any of the three drivers or families they were following breaking rules or anything with track security? _________________ David Cole

I am curious as well Bob. Are you mad at karting or just the whole world?

It was great to see our sport get some exposure. I have never understood why you can't watch a Dave Dispain interview with a pro driver and they all say they started in karting. Yet he gives no coverage to karting? He covers motorcross Just like the rest of the media. What does it take to get our sport to the level of motocrossers? Our drivers are just as much athlete's as they are. I have sent him email however he never responds. It is just good to see our sport get some much deserved recignition. _________________ We spend our money on Racing, Whiskey, and Women ~ The rest we waste! |

Want to start with the Hopper Chopper and the talk with security? Or did they pull that segment this time around?
And I'm not mad at karting or the world. |

Again, I'm still not sure what you are referring to? I saw this when it first came out 2 years ago and do not recall anything you are mentioning. You may have this confused with a different program. _________________ David Cole

He has it confused with the television show that covered the Gold Cup series.
This is a FILM that covered the speedway pavement series. It is really weak when people post negative comments without having any idea what they are posting about. |

| Billy's right. I must have mistaken this for the previous show, which would explain why I didn't watch this one. I'll be looking for the re-run. |

There have been two made that I know of. The latest is the one most of you are talking about. It is a documentary from Marshall Curry (I think that is the producer's name). He does quality stuff. The other one came out several years ago and was more of a reality TV show type thing. We all know the reality show producers go for drama and conflict. _________________ Scott |
