My son, Paulie, has been racing for 4 years now, 3 of them on the WKA national circut. We had a European chassis the first year and it was way too stiff. In fact we had to cut one of the bars to make it handle. We then switched to Invaders near the end of 1998 and IMMEDIATELY saw a huge difference. Every change we made to the chassis made a difference, which is what you want in a go kart. We have been running THE SAME INVADER KARTS FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS NOW, and he has won 4 WKA Mfg. Cup National Championships on them, including 1 this year. They are very good go karts. They are made of 4130 steel tubing and they have not twisted in over 3 years and still scale out fine.
I totally agree that the class and weight you will be running makes a big difference when you decide on which company and model you should chose. Just because you see some senior racer winning in a certain model kart, it doesn't mean that kart will work in the lighter or slower classes and vise-a-versa. The most you can ask of a kart is that they react to changes and are consistant and repeatable. I have found that the Invaders meet that criteria.
