Hi my front tires wear more on the inside of the tire than the rest of it. Is this becuase of camber, a push or a chassis problem? I run a BRM MK5 Thanks Alot

| Adam does the track you run on have lots of banked corners? I've found that banked tracks tend to eat up the inside of tires much quicker on the inside fronts more so than other tracks. |

| No Rob, there are no banked turns i run at oakland valley it has lots of tight turns,I have another question, is it worth it to purchase the exact toe? and does it help to know the exact toe and camber? |

| Adam, if you find any tools for toe/camber please let me know, I am running at OVRP also and have had problems getting my front end to work. I run shifter 125... Only 2 times so far. |

| Michael I think i saw pictures of you at OVRP, I run there every week hopefully I'll see you there sooner or later. Another Question does anyone set camber a couple degrees positive on the stand to get it at zero on the ground? |

We adjust camber all the time to aid with tire wear and turn in and all kinds of other things. That is one of the good things about the DFM kart is the adjustability of the front end both caster/camber and acherman.
By all means, buy an exact toe or other tool to aid in the front end setup.

Your tire wear might be from a lack of side wall support. Try running more air pressure,
get wider wheels or run tires with a stiffer side wall. |

Rob, on banked corners (and I have almost no practical experience on banked turns)the wear may be more on the inside of the treads than it will be on 'flat' corners because centripetal force is effectively making the kart / driver heavier (ie the 'G' force is pushing the kart harder against the track than gravity alone).
This will cause even more weight induced camber change (extra neg' camber) than you would normally see. Perhaps additional static pos' camber is what's needed to maintain a more even wear across the tread width? |

Adam, I have a BRM DK2 and just put camber pills in front, they make a huge difference and also plant the front end in the corners, set them all the way out, I think you'll like them. Steve  |

| Listen to Steve--put the pills in--especially for YGCs; YGBs seem to be a little better--run the fronts out to 3-31/2 spacers as well--good luck--try more pressure in the fronts--14 perhaps and adjust the rear to taste |

OK...I have the BRM DK3 and I just bought the camber / caster pills, but I am a little confused by what I should do with them. On some days, I have too much front grip which manifests itself in two completely different situations (problems described below).
Beside the other obvious adjustments (fronts wheels farther in, less pressure front, more pressure in the rear, longer rear hubs) I was thinking I would try to take some caster out and widen the front of the kart in an effort to find a more balanced set-up. My hypothesis is that my current setup is suboptimal insomuchas I believe the relationship between the front and rear track is out of wack -- front too narrow (2-2.5 spacers) relative to the rear (139.50cm or ca. 55"). All the other karts around here run super wide at the front.
What exactly are you doing to the front with the pills? I really an not having a problem with too much wear on the inside of the tire.
Here are the handling problems I have at times. At other times, the kart handles superbly. Can't really figure it out.
1. mid corner to exit slight lose of grip at the rear which causes the kart to get a touch sideways...loosing valuable speed accelerating onto straights
2. too much bite at the front causing the inside rear to lift uncomfortably high off the ground
Any ideas?

Paul, sounds like you are right about the front being too narrow. Although all karts are different. I would try, Removing caster, widen front until push goes away. Then ajust rear bite with axel & hubs. If the front is still too hooked up the try lowering front ride height. Tighten or lossen front bumper for fine tuning. Good Luck
