PAX results have been posted for the Blytheville Tour and four of the top ten spots were KM! Jeremiah took top PAX for the weekend, Shawn and Mike tied for 3rd (yes, tied!), and I took 6th overall. Congrats to everyone in KM!

My congratulations to the group of strong-driving young guns in the class. For both events, the Pro and the Tour, it was obvious that some real skill was shining through.

We all expect JT to show us how it is done, but right along with him were Mike Kline and Shawn for the Pro. James also showed the old guys how to drive! Always unfortunate was the pairing of two karts for the Challenge, this time Mike and JT. "The Kid" coned, but Mike proved his mettle by advancing through the rounds and getting faster with each one. In Pro challenges, all qualifying drivers from each class run on the winner's index times, and Mike "broke out" by running below JT's! He was on the way to winning his semi-final round when a loose carb did in his chances at a top two.

At the Tour, Jared joined the fast guys in the run to the front of the PAX. I'd be lying if I said I was perfectly all right with having my helmet handed to me by four speedy guys. But it was impressive and exciting, even if I wasn't happy with my spot in the results.

KM is hot as hell, and getting hotter. People were coming up to our encampment all weekend, asking about the karts, the cost to buy in and run one, and saying how great they looked on course. Must have been a blast to watch from inside the big sweeper. Even slow me was running it pretty much wide open in 5th.

If the SCCA decides to run back-to-back Pro and Tour events in Blytheville next year, I'd recommend to everyone that they take a serious look at making it there. The pavement is pretty much the best from the cold war vintage sites I have run on, at least in the dry. It is smooth, with matching block junctions, much better than Lincoln. Certainly in another league compared with Peru or Topeka/Forbes.

I had to laugh at seeing my PAX spot. 13th is not so bad out of 200, but not so good when the four class hotrods were all in the top 6! Besides, the number sort of describes how my four days went anyway, and I hope that was a temporary blip.
