As many of you know, last year in August my father, Marshall Martin, had a heart attack while in Florida on business. As a result of the great care and advances in medical science he is doing wonderful today.

Every year my niece and nephew have participated in their school's Jump Rope For Heart. The purpose is to raise money for The American Heart Association and provide the kids with some education on protecting their heart.

This year it has a whole new meaning to my family. My niece, Katie McDaniel, also a racer, is now jumping in support of her Grandpa, Marshall.

After my father's heart attack my biggest adjustment was knowing that my father was not invinceable. He had never been ill, or had health conditions. He was my superhero. The out pouring of support from the karting community and the number of people who stepped up to say..."I had a heart attack, or my Dad had triple bypass surgery, or I had 5 valves done" made me realize that life would return to normal and Dad would continue to be my hero regardless.

The American Heart Association is very important. They provide us with education, research, and the technology to continue to make life after a heart attack easier and easier. Not to mention the number of people who can make a change, now, to prevent it.

Right now, you or your family may not have been touched by someone with a heart condition. This can all change in a manor of minutes. It did for me.

Please help her efforts by visiting her fundraising page and donating to this great organization.

Stacey,
Tell Marshall hello for me and let me your daughter know to raise the goal, it has been surpassed.

Thanks so much to everyone who has donated. We have spent a lot of time talking with my niece about the important things the Heart Association does. This is a great experience for her on making a difference.
