Thanks to all for coming out to the event. And thanks to all that helped Ryen and I throughout the weekend.

A back story - we had gremlins all weekend killing our qualifying effort and also our Pre-Main results. And with a very stout field of ICE pilots, went into the main gridded 18th overall and Ryen drove through the field to finish 4th overall, and 2nd in ICE.

Pretty good result from the ashes of the weekend and the box of suspect parts I now have.

Thanks to Mark Morisson and Terry Ives for all your help and getting and keeping my kart running fast laps Smile Thanks to Jim and Rick for welding up my busted metal. Paul, thanks for the donut Laughing
It was so good to see everyone again and to meet the new guys from New Zealand Wink It was fun to help and to be helped even at a big race like this one. The Kiwi's were a little surprised at how relaxed and helpful everyone is. Did you know that the karts in NZ have cup holders Razz

Not to hijack this thread but id rather not start a new thread and you folks behind races with Motogp in the past?
MotoGP is running the new track in Texas, COTA April 2013, it would be sooooo nice to get the superkarts with that venue. Can ya'll start talking to those folks?
Easier said than done but got to start somewhere.

Superkarts at Laguna Seca MotoGP in 2005 was a collaboration of Wayne Rainey working with Dorna in getting MotoGP circus back to Laguna Seca.

Laguna Seca Mgt then provided a support slot to the Superkarts. This was only due to the fact that Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson both race Superkarts plus they got Kevin Schwantz and Doug Chandler to run in their backup karts. We also had GE support for our category at this event so being on the schedule does not come from entry fee alone.

My feeling is the international interest attending the early Laguna's (some great names including Martin Hines) and the introduction of FPE replacement Rotax256 engine is what's helped kick start superkarts back into life early 2000's in Europe. The superkarting community owe a lot to these great men for what they have done for our sport.
