|
|
On Tuesday, October 25, Trey Shannon will attempt to break a world record while raising money for Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA). The 24 Hour for TSA event will be Shannon piloting a kart for 24 hours, with the goal of traveling further than the current record of 801.38-miles, set in the UK just over one year ago.
Working with the Shannon and the Adrenaline Fix Karting crew that will provide trackside service for the Virginia driver, they will provide updates throughout the 24 hours. The New Castle Motorsports Park Race-Monitor will be running as well, so you may tune in on your smartphone or via their website: http://www.newcastlemotorsportspark.com/live.shtml
EKN will have a preview of the journey - including a pre-event interview with Shannon - but for more, visit http://www.kart24hour.org _________________ David Cole

Good luck to Adrenaline Fix Karting and Trey!! beat that record. I'm sure with Jim Conlins experience of all of the robopongs that he's done, they'll achieve there goal. _________________ www.checkeredmotorsports.com

Hi Jeff,
I saw that last night. That's a different program but was great to see on NBC last night. I'm sure we will be hearing more from 'Mini' as he grows up and moves up the ranks. _________________ David Cole

I'm going to run out tonight & check it out. Be interesting to see the track all lit up. Weather should be good for the first part of the run. Tomorrow morning - break out the rain tires. _________________ Spec TaG Masters @ NCMP / #23 |

60 laps in the books already. The official distance of each lap is 0.919-miles. Thus, he has completed over 55-miles already. A small battery issue has also been resolved. _________________ David Cole

On the site, is it just the T&S that is live? The video seems to be some race event of some kind and not this 24 hour run. |

Yes, just the timing. The video is a replay of the RoboPong. _________________ David Cole

Update: Had to replace the battery but now good to go. Been driving solid for about half an hour. Took a bathroom and interview break and next scheduled stop is in about one hour. Good work Adrenaline Fix Karting team! _________________ David Cole

At 5 hours, Trey has completed 194 laps = 178.286 miles, leaving around 630 miles left to go to break the 24 hour record. Speaking with him in our interview Sunday, they have mapped out a pace to go over 900 miles. He is currently averaging. At this pace - 35mph - he will be at just over 850 miles, giving him the record. _________________ David Cole

Sorry for the delay in updates folks. It's 3:10 and we're working lap 200 - we've done our second "200" in 3 days. Battery issue is behind us and since then only had one other issue has raised its ugly head - the big nut that holds the drive gear to the drum worked loose. Thanks to MRP Motorsport for all the spares that made that a quick fix. _________________ David Cole

From the AFK Facebook page: Just finished our 4th scheduled stop. Was planned to be a 20 minute stop but everything was done and Trey felt good enough to go back out after 14 minutes. We're currently slightly ahead of the previous world record average but it is still very early. Banking time now while we can. _________________ David Cole
