Chad, I'm sorry to hear the performance doesn't seem to be there. Is it different than before? If so, when? Was it okay before today, or okay before the new look? Are you on dial up?
All indications I've had until now is that the performance was good.

I am on a "Company Intranet" cable connection, and get near instantaneous page refresh most of the time. Other forums are no problem, EKN has been getting steadily slower since the forum has loaded up. - this reply page took 52 seconds to load !- Sometimes i have to do some work whilst i wait !! aaarrrrrrgggghhh ! |

I was having the exact same problem, but it turned out to be a Trojan Virus. I knew of the virus which supposedly was only supposed to do stuff if I was serving up web pages, anyhow the virus didn't present a problem until the new board was installed, and I couldn't take it anymore. It was taking a minute also for me to get pages. After downloading a Code Red detect from Symnatec, d-loading a patch from Microsoft, d-loading a removal tool. I'm happy to say that EKN is up and FLYING again. I'm at 43K dial up and it normally takes 1-2 seconds to bring up a page now.
Might want to check into it. Once I got rid of the virus, presto the forum was Very Speedy. |

Hey I don't know Chad, but it was the culprit for me.
The name of the virus was Trojan something and is also referred to as Code Red that has been going around the past few weeks. The Anti Virus people just came out with the fix on August 17, 2001.
Who knows. I hope you find out whats bogging you down. |

I can state with complete certainty that Code Red is not an issue with Chad's access. Code Red doesn't work like that.
Contrary to what someone may have told you, Code Red only affects computers running IIS, the Windows Web server software. Unless you are running an unpatched version of IIS on your computer, it is technically not possible for someone to become infected with that trojan. There were reports of it affecting a couple of different Cisco broadband routers, and some pretty severe congestion from servers on infected networks, but many of those reports were unsubstantiated. There were also cases where virus detection software incorrectly reported Code Red infections.
