For someone 250lbs? About how fast could it go and would it be responsive enough for a beginner? Also seat, would the 80cc chassis be big enough for a larger seat? thanks randy

Yes, it will be plenty quick to begin with. When I got back into karting in '09 I was 240lbs and still got a smidge over 100MPH at Gingerman in a CR80 shifter. Typical sprint track will be much lower than this.
Even with 250lb driver, a well setup 80 will rip most "fast" road cars a new one.

Keep in mind there is no such thing as a chassis that is specific to an 80cc motor. What you are looking for is a "senior" kart. I will say with your higher weight try and opt for a frame that utilizes 32mm diameter tubing.

I am 6'3" 230 lbs and I fit into an Emmick shifter 80 kart built for a guy that was 5'5". Besides my knees going past the sides of the steering wheel, it still went about as fast as a yamaha pipe class would go.... It was tons of fun.
