This is my first season with my hpv/komet sr class kart and still trying to understand a few things. From last year to this year, the komet sr class went from the 4 pipe to the 2 pipes. What are the hp/tq curve differences between them? All my testing was with the 4 pipe and now obviously switched to the 2. Now trying to decipher & compare my data from the MyChron.
Thanks! |

My experience is nothing really scientific, but from driving both for several years, the 4 pipe seems to give more top end but trades off low end power. When we switched to the 4, everyone thought we'd go much faster than we did on the 3 pipe, but it ended up not being nearly as much of a difference in overall lap time as we thought.
You can rev a 4 pipe pretty hard. On tight tracks (Badger) we'd spin up to 16.5k on occasion. But on longer tracks you were in the 15.5k area.
On the 2 pipe you'll want to be probably at 15k max and shoot more for mid to high 14s. _________________ T.J. Koyen
