I here there is going to be a dirt track race "on the famous bull ring" during the OC fair on July 17th. I would like to know more info and how many are able to attend and what classes are offered. This should be awsome. Been there for many speed way races!!!

We're IN ! Entries are limited in all Classes. Senior Class filling fast ! No Kid Karts Yet - hope some come out and give it a try. Cadets, Juniors, and the OPEN Classes all still have room. Should be a blast - expecting a couple thousand spectators - Arena holds 4,000+. Practice dates will be announced shortly - we expect to have 3 prior to the event.

Here's the EBlast that went out Monday:

Dirt kart racing will return to Southern California in 2011 at the Orange County Fair thanks to USKart and Burris Racing. The first annual Orange County Fair “Challenge in the Dirt” will be held on July 17th at the Action Sports Arena during the Orange County Fair.

The race will be held on the famed Speedway Oval, a quick 1/10th mile that is surrounded by grandstands. The event expects to host over 2,500 spectators with classes available for Kid Karters through an untamed “Open Class” for Senior drivers.

Classes include: Kid Karts, Cadets, Juniors, Seniors, and OPEN. The Senior class will have a cash payout for positions one through three, and there will be trophy and product prizes in the other classes.

Practice and heat races begin around noon and continue through the afternoon. Driver introductions and the National Anthem take place at 6:30 pm with the feature races kicking off at 7:30 pm.

Admission to the race is included in the general admission ticket to the Orange County Fair, and there is still some Reserved Seating available (which also includes OC Fair admission). To purchase a reserved seat, visit Ticketmaster at:

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0B004588A2B83C2D

For online registration and more information on competing or coming out to witness some of the best side-by-side racing in Southern California, visit http://www.USKart.com . Also, keep visiting USKart.com for a major announcement and more information on the “Orange County Grand Prix” scheduled for September 16-18. The OCGP will be an asphalt sprint kart race that will also be held at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

The Burris TX-22 Dirt Tire. Check out the website - the Bundle pricing essentially gives you free entry and some oil with the purchase of the tires.

Kid Karts is the only exception, they can use their Bridgestones if they want, Slicks or Rain Tires. However, we have Burris Dirt Tires available for them as well if they wish.

Classes, Rules, Event Format, and Entry can all be found on the website.

Practice Dates have been confirmed with the OC Fairgrounds for the Orange County Fair "Challenge in the Dirt" to run during the OC Fair July 17th.

Practice Dates are: Saturday, July 2nd - Sunday, July 3rd - Saturday, July 9th, and Sunday, July 10th. All practices will run from 9:30 to 4:30.

Driver fee $20 - Pit/Crew $10.

Please let others know of these practice dates - especially any kid/juniors you know. I believe this is an excellent opportunity to expose oval dirt karting to those who are unfamiliar with it and we are trying to keep the cost as low as possible.

The Kid/Junior entries are light at this time and I believe they will really enjoy it if they give it a try. Senior and Open Classes are filling fast. We encourage all to come out and give it a try. No need for any special equipment - you can run your slicks, old rain tires, whatever you have. The track is well packed and has a good rubber line (blue groove) at this time so the slick tires/rain tires will work fine.

We will have a couple of sets of Dirt tires to pass around for you to try.

Kid Entry $35 - Cadet Entry $45; and that includes entry to the Fair during breaks. Place awards will be given, prizes provided by OC Fair (Fair Family Passes and Concert Tickets), and Sponsor product Prizes.

Additionally, we will have people available at the practices dates to help all with any setup advice that may need/want.

The event day will provide all classes with two practices, Qualifying, two heat races, an LCQ if necessary, and a Main.

We open the track to spectators for a walk around and autograph session at 6:00. We are encouraging the Drivers and Crew to bring their Karts onto the track to meet the Fans. National Anthem at 7:15, Mains start at 7:30 under the lights.

Classes available are: Kid Kart, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Open. Cash Purse for Seniors.

We are expecting well over 3,000 spectators, admission to the event is free to all who have general admission to the Fair; however over 1,000 reserved seats have already been sold by the Fair.

I know several, including us, who have run their first Dirt Oval in the past few months - I can tell you that we had a blast and did well - and we used a traditional sprint chassis with Dirt Tires, and put a rain set-up on the Kart. I hope that some others will jump in here and share their experience.

The asphalt sprint racers need to give this a try - you won't be disappointed. The bulk of the field will be traditional sprint chassis. However, the Open Class is Open - that should be exciting Shocked .

More info is posted on the Website, www.USKart.com.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional question or comments you may have.

Jeff is right, if you haven't you need to give dirt or pavement oval racing a try, it is FUN. And sprint chassis works amazing well with a few simple set up changes. I also understand Paris Speedway has a good program running there.

My son and I have decided to go to the practice this weekend and race as well. Are the cadets running Comer or KPV-1? I hear a rain setup will work as a starting point is this true?

The Spec engine for the Cadet is the Comer K-80 and the Junior 1 Clone with the .550 Restrictor. The engine Specs for the K-80 will be the same as used in Region 7. See the Website for additional info.

http://uskart.com/Schedule.html

A basic Rain set-up is a good place to start - except you will use lower tire pressure. We will have some Dirt Vetrens at the practice to help all with any assistance or advice thet may want or need.

Look forward to seeing you there.

A couple quick comments to PM's and EMails I have recieved:

You CAN run any engine package you want at the practice as long as it is apporiate to the Age Group - Comer's, HPV's, PRD's, Yamaha's, 4-Cycles's, etc ... all OK.

We will have entry forms at the practice and we can give you your tires there if you choose the entry item that includes tires.

WOW!!! today was AWSOME at the "BULLRING" for the first "official" practice for the race in 2 weeks. There will be open practice again tommorrow and also next weekend. The "oval" is extremely fast I thought for a dirt track. Also a lot of grip in the "groove", but if you miss the groove on turn in you are WAY out in the "marbles" Good job to everyone that is involved in this! If you can make this race I here there will be well over 2,000 people in the grandstands for this event as it is going on during the Orange County fair.

After practicing a couple times for this event, I am convinced that it is going to be a very exciting type of racing. If you havent signed up to race, you need to and if not come out and watch. I have a feeling a few karts are going to get bent up. If you catch the loose dirt, the wall will grab you.
