|
|
With the latest article from the Factory Pilot: Gary Carlton - An American in Europe HERE, Gary would like to get more direct with those here back in the States that would like to know more about what goes on as a factory driver with Chiesa Corse and Zanardi/IAME.
If you publish your question here about things on and off the track, Gary will select the best questions and reply to them in a video blog in the near future. Thank you. _________________ David Cole

Hi Gary,
How many technicians usually take care of chassis set up? One or more?
Thanks,

And who makes the final say on a chassis change, you or the factory techs? _________________ Ken Schilling

The same question but directed towards the IAME engine mechanic(s). _________________ Ken Schilling

| How many races do you do on a single chassis and when you switch, what's the reason for switching? |

1) Is what you are doing living up to your expectations? If not, where is it short?
2) Are you having fun? |

When you say you are a "factory driver" what does that mean?
Salary?
Living Expenses?
Hot live-in personal assistant?
Do you work at the factory during the week(s) between events?
What other requirements for "factory" status?
And if you are a paid shoe, who actually writes the checks?
I think many aspiring pro kart drivers would like to know the reality of the existence. _________________ Bill Wright

Gary,
1. What was the biggest single piece of advice that has helped you get to the point where you are today?
2. Is it still fun for you to go out and race? Or does the stress of being a factory driver make it hard to enjoy it. Or is there any stress? _________________ Racing is life. Everything else is just waiting. |

|
|
Hi Gary,
Thanks for keeping us informed on Euro Karting and the life, I'm enjoying the post. My question is what is the Euro scene like when it comes to small family teams and small Kart shops. Everyone in the pictures there seems to be well outfitted with nice karts, helmets & uniforms. Are most of the teams independent, or do they have some support from local Kart shops. What are Euro Kart shops like, big factory supported operations or mom & pop shops? Just trying to get an idea of how the avarage Joe or race family operates in Europe. Thanks! _________________ The art is in the details

I'm going with the Leopard spotted. _________________ Sex is like pizza. When it's good it's great and when it's bad, it's still pretty good. |

| How would you compare the competition and driving styles you raced against in the U.S. versus those of the European drivers? |
