| In gears 1-3 i have a mid range mis, rpms wont go past 12,500 but 4-6 the motor runs just fine. Anyone have any ideas to solve this problem? One friend says its electrical issue, another says its fuel issue. |

Need more info on your setup. What motor? Carb jets? What have you tried so far? Has it run correctly in the past. When it hits a wall at 12,500 does it four stroke/misfire or go plain dead? How do the the plug and exhaust header look? Does the rev counter give intermittent or crazy readings when it stops revving? _________________ GPI Racing | WildKart | Maxter | Hoosier

There is less load on the engine in those low gears, I would look for a fuel problem. Maybe not, but one place to start. _________________ If the data does not support the theory, get a new theory. (Al Nunley)

Zaino clear seal Wipe on, and walk away, you're done. No buffing. No final wipe down. Simplicity at it's best. Just apply & let dry. |

| Its a maxter and the motor has ran great in the past. Its more like the revs hit a wall wen it reaches 12,500. I havent tried anything due time issues. I switched gas tanks and my other motor ran great also. I havent tried the other motor since then though. |

I had same type of problem. It was the wire that goes ignition pick up to coil. The wire was broken right at the ignition pick up where it goes around the case _________________ Thanks

| While you are checking, have a look at the reeds. Broken reeds shouldn't cause what you describe but most of us probably do not inspect them often enough! |

Cody,
The KZ (ICC) is a very reliable, durable kart shifter engine. Since each brand has to use a common set of specifications when manufactured, the engine(s) are somewhat easier to troubleshoot.
If you suspect the ignition you might try www.pentonimports.com for testing procedures. Also check high tension lead to make sure the it screwed in tightly to boot and coil
As Ed suggested, check for broken reeds.
Does engine have compression? When you turn it over in gear does it hit compression hard?
It would help to know what jetting you are using but be sure to check small filter on side of carburetor. I think it is a 11 or 12mm nut.
Good luck. _________________ Tom Barth

| The reeds are fine and its the same jetting iv always used with this motor. The we have to put the motor in 6th gear to get it started instead of the usual 2nd or3rd. Thanks for the website ill check that out. |

Check spark spinning the rear axle in 2nd or 3rd; it might be an ignition problem. _________________ "If you're still in full control, you're not going fast enough" - Fred Frame |
