Give the pipe a place to go and it won't have to crack in order to get there. Best part is that the o-ring gland dimensions stay the same...you'll still get good sealing.

Roy,

Iv'e put a 36mm on the ICC for the long track but lately the best set up is with the 30mm. Most guys (tuners) out there don't understand what makes the ICC run like it does. I.E. the ICC turning 14,000 R's is designed to use the 30mm carb. At 13,500+ the engine is getting plenty of fuel/air. Bigger is not always better. 'Just right' is best. Remember the smaller venturi makes for a more responsive throttle. You can put the biggest carb you want on the moto engine, still won't run with a well tuned ICC.

I've also changed the ignition to handle more compression...no help. Just do the things to the ICC that it likes (all within) CIK regs and it is a 'happy camper'.

Thanks Tom...I agree... I have both and the ICC's are really on another level for sure.

Send it to RLV, they'll fix it for about 40% of the cost of a new pipe.

Mike,
Take a bore scope with you so tech can see there is nothing funny happening underneath the repair.

Should tech still not allow that then they are just a bunch of aholes. Everybody knows that the pipe can crack there and that is the only logical reason for your repair.

Jeff, you get what you pay for.

I do not buy the over priced high maintenance knock on the ICC! Comparing the ICC to the moto has to be done with a level playing field.

I hear the moto chant....that it is cheaper and runs forever. Take a look at the posts in shifter karts and tech talk. most are moto problems.

A well set up KZ will run with zero problems and out perform the moto.

Racing is going to cost money. Let's not dilute real racing with five & dime substitutes.

Yeah I know. I don't see many KZ crank breaks, only timely rebuilds. But it is nothin' compared to the moto scrap yard I see on these posts. Smile

Worst case it costs $125 to fix the occasional cracked pipe, I know the parts for a KZ crank refresh is at least twice that!!!

I'll take the occasional cracked pipe, you can keep the KZ cranks!!!

5 years of road race.
I have not cracked a pipe. My EGT is frequently 1400+ degrees. EGT gauge port located 3.875" from the beginning of the pipe.

I have used home built mounts and the Hegar mounts.

Of course the kart is a garage queen this year though.
