| I'd be interested in hearing an explaination from IKC as to how they can justify renting out the track on sun to a group of car and truck racers forcing the cancelation of races 6 & 7 we new from Fri that rain was forcast for late Sun By race 2 they already were shortening races to try and get us all in, but shortly after noon they closed the track to karts and let the cars and trucks out for 2 hours. Rain came during race 5, races 6&7 were imediatly cancled, biggest insult was, rain was very brief and as we were leaving the trucks were back out on the track. We moved into 2nd place in a class on sat, how many people, with only 2 races left, needed this race, and should have had it. I certinly hope Dave Larson is back in charge for Gingerman. Bob |

Clayton Prater won the pro race, broke away
from the pack. Koutny and Wright crashed
in turn 15 while running 2nd and third while
lapping a kart. This brought out the red
flag and ended the race (past half way).
They wer OK and able to shake the champagne.
Miller DNFd with a thrown chain I believe.
Track was just as bad as last year. |

Well, that should tighten up the point race for that group! Glad to Tim and Chris are ok, both excellent drivers and good kids....kids, guess I'm showing my age!
Last time we ran there, we broke a chassis and I swore I'd never be back until the track was improved. Doesn't sound like its there yet. Wonder if Marc's thrown chain was secondary to track conditions.
2 hr middle of the day intermission for car truck racing? Strangest thing I ever heard of at a kart enduro event! |

I didn't hear of any broken chassis' at IRP this year although Friday I was picking up wheels left and right as many spindles were just snapping right off. I don't think that most who attended really want to remember that weekend Charlie! I counted thirteen red flags between the three days although many of those (in my opinion) should have been waving yellows. I would not be surprised if I missed writing one or two down due to frustration in not knowing what turn to respond to because of radio mis-communication or lack thereof.
Bob V. is right about the Sunday car & truck show! Shouldn't have even been considered in my opinion! Bob evidently didn't see the British cars also lining up in the infield thinking they could go out on track after the trucks also.
As for Gingerman, I am told that RVKC has decided to have Dave Larson be the Race Director although ,again, many of the regular workers were not asked to work their normal positions which will instead be covered by club members similar to the IRP race. I plan to make it and do Safety/Tow as long as "Big Blue" decides she wants to make it all the way there this time! Haven't decided whether to bring a JetSki or not yet.
I wish Dan would enlarge that little pond he has there so I can do more than just ride circles!
Make sure you track me down and say "Hi"! Or stop by the bonfire I'm going to have Friday somewhere near "Big Blue"!

I've had that happen already just practicing my kart. I still haven't raced a shifter. But than look who I have working on my kart, my dad and Randy. Need I say more. |

It's true, the J-arm broke at the weld, very uncommon. I doubt it was due tot he bumpy conditions, rather lack of weld all the way through the material, according to my expert welding buddy.
The track was extremely bumpy, but not necessarily in the corners... it was bumpy on the short shoot surfaces which was surprising. I was dissapointed to see a track layout that fun deteriorate so much since the last time i was there (4 years ago). Truly a shame.

It wasn't a thrown chain, Miller's "J" arm broke. |

| Greg, yup, one of those tires was ours, but we always figure if you going to do some thing like that, might as well do it in front of everyone, lost ours at about 1/8 mile mark on the dragstrip, both made it into the pits under their own power but tire beat us by about 3 sec.BTW anyone know how the driver is who crashed avoiding the outhouse on a stick? | bob im truly sorry for the messup at irp.I am not the pres of indy anymore i was for 4 years and we never had this kind of a problem but im still the contact between the club and IRP so you can beleive i have been catching total he-- on this race weekend.all in all i think the club learned that it is to hard to try to please everybody the truck deal could have worked if it were done right simple just run them after the karts are done wala !! but it didnt happen that way so now the club has to learn from this and go on . again you dont know me if you did you would know that my heart has always been for the karter and always will be i would never put another group ahead of the karter for money. The race director made the decesion on sundays races not me i wasnt even there i need to make this fact publicly known because i have been getting calls and hearing the roomers and it hurts beleive me , thanks Jim |

Bob,
Don't you hate it when you get beat out by your own equipment!
Last I heard he had a broken collarbone and a broken kart!
