First I do want to say that the Road Race Committee was unanimous in the following class structure. The IKF board did quizz the committee (quite extensively I might add) and then bowed to the committee and approved our recommendations. I have been typing all day so pardon any typos and misspellings that may follow, but you will get the text of the matter.

There are 22 classes currently in the 2001 IKF book. There are still 22 classes called CORE classes for 2002. Spec Sprint, Jr. Enduro and Yam. Sprint Classic light were deleted. On top of the 22 core classes each region may have up to 30% (in this case 6) REGIONAL OPTION CLASSES. The classes are submitted to IKF with full rules for approval to run for regional championships. If the club is holding the natinals that year, those regional optional class rules are posted in the rule book and those classes will run for the Duffy that year. This gives the hosting club the ability to show case and support their racers. Each club with the regional options gets to cater to their members. (This doesn't change a club from having more local options, just gives up to 6 the chance to be region champs)

So---(the class number will be different in the rulebook, this is just the way the classes were voted on) Also, all degrees for sprint seats in road race must be a Miniumu of 14" from the ground to the top of the seat. Also running a sprint chassis in the laydown classes only gets a 20# weight break per engine being run. (watch for a bucket depth rule for all sprint seats also to be coming up once figures are worked out and submitted to IKF)

1) Yamaha Sit-Up (rules as posted in 2001) at 365#
2) Super Stock 100cc piston port at 320#
100cc stock reed PRE 1998-340#
100cc Rotary Valve-340#
100cc Stock reed 1998&+ at
365#
Any Sprint kart with CIK or no body work may take a 25# weight reduction for the type of engine being run (this is to incorporate the Spec Sprint guys, if club doesn't pick class as a regional option)

3) Yamaha limited light-same as 2001 rule book at 330#

4) Yamaha Limited Heavy-360#
5) Yam.Sprint Classic Heavy at 360#
6) Jr. Sprint Sit-up light at 290#
7) Sportsman Heavy at 410#-new part is the
running of a sprint chassis gets only
a 20# weight break
8) Controlled light-100cc Stock PRE 98 reed
at 350#
100cc Rotary valve-350#
100cc stock reed 1998 & + at 370#
Piston Vlave - 330#
9) Controlled Heavy 100cc stock PRE 1998 reed
at 380# (Rotary also)
100cc stock 1998 & + at 400#
Piston Valve at 360#
10) Yam. Light at 370# FIXED PIPE ONLY
11) Yam Heavy at 400# FIXED PIPE ONLY
(note no brand named for fixed pipe, just run a fixed pipe)

12)Piston Valve-Piston Port at 400#
Yamaha at 380#
FIXED PIPE ONLY

13) Formula 125 Limited (was Form. Moto) TM
is now allowed into class-385# no
programable ignitions,
14)Forumula 125 (was International Moto)-as listed in 2001 book, with addition of any APPROVED motocross engines and can use pro-
gramable ignitions.-385#

15) 80cc Senior as listed in 2001 at 360#
16) 125 gearbox weights same as 2001
17) 125-15ccweights same as 2001
18)Unlimited/FKE III-I don't have lis of engines as this was handled Sunday while I was stuck at airport. I will get them as soon as possible. From what I heard they are what USED to be listed and kind of got dropped---?) weight is now 485#

19) IKF Intecontinental E-I do not have the list of rules to clarify the 2001's Hopefully Brad Davis will fax them to me as soon as possible. I was there for reading and approval (plus a month's worth of reading and re-reading). Anyway weight is 465#

NEW CLASSES:
20) Formula 125 Limited Heavy same as #13 above but at 420#, over 35 years of age OR the driver must be a minimum weight of 190# (John had weight wrong in other post, but I told him at 11:30 at night!)

21) Jr. Sprint Sit-up Heavy at 310#
22)Sportsman Light at 380#

All laydown classes are 45 minutes, and the race director still has the option of running the Unlimited at 2 heats or 45 minutes. Everything else that was a heat is still a heat race.

Experts can run all road race classes EXCEPT-
the Classic and Sportsman Heavy. In those classes, once you get your 4th Duffy, you can't run them any more (you can finish the year, but then out)

To allow for more cross overs, those with a shifter kart license who primarily race sprint must still receive 3 punches, but only one needs to be in road race if the driver wishes to run the RR Nationals.

The waiver was reduced to $150.00, They will be watching for distance from a sanctioned race, etc.

And the rule was clarified for 3 race events is what a punch is, not 3 races.

Also, if a kart goes off the track, once you get out of the kart, you are out of the race. (you still can not have someone push you ack onto the track as stated in section 100)

And there is the gist of it. If you have questions, I will do my best to answer, but the best is to wait and read the minutes once they are posted.

SCK has a local option class (and due to its popularity it most likely will be one of our regional options)called SCK 250 Sprint. The unlimited allows for 2 100cc open motors, fuel is open and weight is 400#. Two 125's are at 425# this year. I don't have the weights for these engines for 2002 yet.
