I have a few unanswered questions still...
1.) I want to race 125cc shifter karts at the WKC (Woodbridge Kart Club)enduro events (Summit Point & VIR), but I know that WKC won't allow a novice to race this class. What kart series should I race so that I can transistion into shifters? What is the normal progression to get into shifter karts. Do I have to race an entire season on a non-shifter kart before I can transistion, or can I get a "sign-off" from a WKC official after a few races?
2.) Besides races, where can I touch, feel, & see different makes and models of karts? I have been to Kart Connection PLus in Fredrick, MD, but was disappointed to learn that they don't have a showroom. Are there any shops that have showrooms in the D.C. area?
3.) I wouldn't mind racing true sprint series with the KT-100 kart style if I could find some tracks local to the D.C. area. Do you know of any? Does Old Dominion Speedway have a decent course? Is it just oval?
4.) Is the CIK bodywork that people talk about the typical shifter kart bodywork. I don't care for the wind ferrings that you typically see on a sprint enduro kart. Is it true that the shifter karts use the CIK bodywork and don't opt for the air dams and wind ferrings?
I like the look, style, and speed of the shifter karts. I originally was looking at road racing (VW GTI or Spec Miata), but I'm buying a townhouse, and don't have the room for a race car. So, going 110-120 MPH doesn't scare me too much, but maybe at 1 foot off the ground things look a little different in a kart.
Thanks for any advise...

BRIAN
FOR RACING AT SUMMIT POINT CONSIDER BUYING A 125 CHASSIS AND PUT A YAMAHA KT100 ONE IT TO RACE UNTIL wkc LETS U MOVE UP. THAT WAY YOU HAVE A KART WITH FRONT WHEEL BRAKES AND ALL YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IS PUT ON A RADIATOR WHEN YOU CHANGE TO A SHIFTER.
ALSO YOU MIGHT CONSIDER RUNNING SOME WHERE ELSE SUCH AS THE WKA OR SKUSA AND THEN GO TO SUMMIT POINT WITH YOUR LICENSE . THEY WILL THEN LET YOU IN.
