Then you would be a lot closer to having "factory" support in U.S. shifter kart racing. You'd also have a closer link to Supercross racing. Makes some good sense....

Personally, I'd like to see a Ducati kart!

Yamaha did a couple of years ago I think.

What would they add to the sport though? I mean this sport not F1, because although karters going to F1 is cool karting will fall on it's arse if that's the only focus.

I read in the paper the other day that a British university is now running a golf degree course in an effort to enable our golfers to catch up with the Americans... Sounds like an idea there

Karting in Europe, is like baseball in the USA. Dads, Moms ect. Heck the local merchants even sponsor of sorts the baseball, basketball teams. Money usually drives everything in the USA. Lots of kids learning golf now. Swimmings not so popular.
I think the reason karting can't get the Honda, Kaw, Yam, support because it dosen't relate to public retail sales like motorcycles or cars do. Like did you see so and so win on the (insert any motorvehicle)? I'm going to get one of those. Yea he was also running a bla bla exhaust. I'm going to get one of those for my ( insert any motorvehicle ). Even lawnmower racing has sponsors. When the key is found on how to market karting it will produce the USA F1 Team.

I would guess that it has more to do with the small number of American drivers in F1 (due to lack of interest and lack of comparable opportunity) than any innate lack of ability.
