I think both yes and no. Build in obsolescence sure, that makes sense. But theres nothing in regs to say you can't use older equipment or that it HAS to be current CIK homologation. Pretty sure if you scour the man cup grids you'll see 17mm spindles with 8mm kingpins on karts.


Jim, my point regarding older equipment was ---
that WKA, SKUSA, and others seem to be heading towards specified items in exchange for sponsorship dollars and monopolistic exclusivity. When they can get away with it, they specify only the latest and greatest, and grandfather the older stuff when they can't. Did that clarify my thought any better?

BTW, as an Irishman in a cold climate are you looking forward to thawing out with some Guinness on March 17th or so? Smile

I get what you are saying and its a scary thought. I think the first org to specify a certain homologation period would suffer colossal entry losses though. For as much $hit the CIK gets over this side of the pond, even at the top level you could\can run older equipment if you wish.

Its over 40deg up here now and its like a heat wave Smile
