As the USA importer for Swissauto I have been asked by the factory to respond to these false rumors. Sodikart has not dumped the SA250 and continues to supply engines for their production kart line. Swissauto is not having any problems with the engine bottom end or any other parts of the engine.
Customers who do not follow the specific operational instructions provided by the factory will have problems.
This engine does not have an oil pump. The oil is circulated through the engine from the piston pressure (up and down) through a reed valve in the lower case, it is a dry sump. If the customer does not use the proper weight of oil it will not flow through the oil passages and through the crankshaft which will cause failure of the lower end bearing.
The most common customer mistakes (besides not reading the directions):
Using the incorrect oil weight. 0w30 weight required, no exceptions!
Not warming up the engine to operational temperature before running under load.
Repeated running of the engine to the rev limiter.
Taking advice from someone who thinks they know everything.
If you service the engine at the recommended intervals and follow these simple operational requirements the Swissauto SA250 engine will have no problems and give you many years of enjoyment as one of the most powerful and reliable kart engine available.

That's what happens when two smokers start running 4 cycles. Happens all the time till they figure it out. |
