Just finished reading on how the US is going about there national championship in the Las Vegas race to determine which team will go to the world finals to represent the US.But what I want to know is how do they think they will do if they arent following the world challenge rules now,are they that good that when they get there they will no how to adjust to the tire compound run at the world finals,YGK's are an interesting tire so I found out at the Canadian Nationals. We had 31 karts in the field for the event 14 were over the age of 35 we ran 2 10 lap qualifing races that set us up for the 12 lap prefinal then on to the 15 lap main ,it was the prefinal that determined the out come of the event in my mind, out on the track in wets with in 3 laps the track was dry new rains down to the cords!Oh well thats why they call it racing anything can happen so I found out.

I have heard information that the reason the US is not running Bridgestone YGK's is because we were unable to get them in time and the VEGA Red's that many regions are running is very similar to the YGK. If we were able to get the YGK's I am sure we would have run them but we were unable to and instead are running VEGA's which is ok by me. I think that at the Vegas event we will be on YGK's but correct me if I am wrong.

What about the Jr MAX? Who's going and how do/did you qualify for it?

Thanks,

Trevor unless it has changed in the last day. We will be runing YGK's at Las Vegas, not the Reds.

I'm told they are also going to do it by the book when it comes to the rules at the event, although there maybe some question of how the 80 drivers will get selected that goto Vegas, as some Regional Centers haven't put on the races like they were required to do.

It's still top 5 guys from each region go to Vegas (one 35 or over), but some regions only have one driver and some have 30 drivers. It's my understanding that regions like the Northwest & the SouthEast will be allowed to add 1-3 more drivers, yet to be determined. Will there even be 80 drivers in Vegas? I'm not sure, some regions aren't going to finish by the date they were supposed, some just started this week. America got lucky this year as the World Finals are a little later than was initially hoped for.

The Jr Max is by invitation is my understanding.

Drew,
The Junior Class is supposed to be strictly an Exhibition Race at the National in Vegas to showcase the upcoming new class for 2002. From what I have read at www.rmaxchallenge.com

Each Regional Distributor has the choice of inviting (1)qualified Junior to run this new package in the Exhibition Race. I would say you would have to kiss up to your Regional Director and show them you are interested. As of yet, I don't think anyone has made an announcement regarding if the Juniors will also race at the World Finals. I would think it unlikely, though not impossible.
