| I just recently purchased a rotax kart and was wondering if someone could give me a list of the most common spares I'll need. Thanks in advance! |

To start you should have:
Carb main jets 162, 165, 168, 170
chain
axle sprockets
If you have Brembo caliper then buy lot's of brake pads
spare set of wheels
rain tires, mounted on rims, especially if you live in the NW USA
side pod if you drive like me
brake rotor
rear axle |

In addition to what has been suggested, you may want:
spare battery
spare plastic gears(all of them)
spare exhaust tube and packing
spare spark plugs
If you go to different track requiring different gearing, possibly a 12 tooth drive gear. It will allow you to run a smaller axle sprocket, difference is about 5 teeth. Use the manual to verify this, and to keep track of service limits as well, such as oil changes in gear case and exhaust care.
Keep track of time on motor, get the service manual and a list of all the rotax dealers nationwide, from the rmaxchallenge website.
Good luck and have fun

Things I went through this w/e (first race)
Chain, Spark Plug,
Rear Drive Gear,(90)
L and R Tie rod, and Stearing shaft,
Orange Number plate and numbers for Rear of Kart =) Hmmmm seems the tire barrier ate it.
Well I didn't replace the stearing shaft yet, need to see if I can get it straightened. Managed to baby it through the Main though without getting lapped. |

I change gears a lot so I bought three clutch hubs and set them up so it's easy to change out between 11, 12, 13, & 14 tooth drivers.
You'll need a piston stop to change out the clutch hub.
The needle bearing and thrust washers on the drive axle need to be monitored.
The bellows on the power valve can crack and fail.
Spare batteries are a must. |

Things I have seen fail regularly (in addition to those above):
Exhaust Springs
Carburettor/throttle cable 90° Elbow
It is also very easy to lose the tiny carb. needle circlip. Also the needle itself is not very strong - seems to be hard anodized aluminum. I keep a spare just in case I bend one.
Also, take some pain killers to the track for when you get that bad jolt to the ribs on a rough track or get a headache from the continuous whining of parents of young racers at the drivers meeting. |
