Rotax Road Race Challenge

PSRRA in seattle runs the rotax as a local option and we have 5 of us that run on a consistent basis. we allow Belt drives, front brakes, full belly pans ( back to the rear axle) and a more aerodynamic driver's fairing ( must fit into IKF rules - not taller than 26 inches not wider than 15) I am planning on making the Sears Point race in November and am anxiously waiting next years RRGN at thunderhill!! I think that key element in the Rotax class is the spec'd and sealed motor package. i have found front brakes not to be that great of advantage on long tracks. Full belly pan's and better aero is another story - makes a huge difference!! Well, I'm 38 now, but I was 37 when I started with my Rotax. Since I'm a Unit Manager responsible for multi-million-$$$ division of a multi-billion-$$$ company, I guess I'm in middle management....

I was told in Malaysia by the Rotax dude that they will not be allowing any RR series to be a qualifying series for the RMC. So I believe that a RR series for a Rotax would or could have different rules. I personally am agianst the changing of the rules and would like all the RMC rules to be left in tack for RR. Belt drive for the hard core guys would be my only change. I ran a chain and never had problems.


I am the 35 year old middle management guy that ran a Rotax. I was a unit manager and now I am my own boss, but I do fit the "Rotax Market". I ran it because it was cheap.

I like it because it is a very competitve class that reminds me of the KT 100 lite classes of old without all the stuck motors, clutches that burned up, and sarters that always ran out of charge because I would forget to charge it.

I am recovering from Rock Island today!!!

I was hoping to see you there to talk Rotax in the Midwest/Michigan.

I believe Bruce, Ashley and I are thinking about Vegas so Road Alanta is just another money option and travel days (loss of work).

The rules should be straight up RMC so there are common grounds between all these divisions of WKA, IKF and RMC (NAKA). I would like to see one rule for this motor package. The key issue I have seen so far is tires! The Bridgestone YGKs are hard but it made for a fun tire at the "Rock." We all skated for 2-3 laps and then the fun began. The motor seal is another issue to be addressed but this can only stir up complaints and bitches from people who bought motors from the non SSC dealers.

I just want to race at a relatively close track in Michigan (sprint or long) and have a fun day. The Rock was the most fun I have had all year and I did not win this one!!

It was fun, if you didn get in the wreck at the start.

Only thing I didnt like is if you got passed you were out of the race.

I have to think about that rule.

Richard, You may have not seen any of the target market out racing Rmax, but trust me there are alot of us. Being in that 35+ "M,M" (?) group I think that Rotax hit the target rather well. We just don't show ourselves all that often as there is still that feeling of need to be at work on monday
There are many like myself that still need some practice time to get up to speed with the young guns lap times. As we are in that "MM" group we don't always have the time off from responsibilities to get in the practice we need.
I must say though the Rmax is easily the best money I've ever spent on a hobby/sport/work diversion.
