| Moving from 125 shifter to Rotax Max next season. Wondering what chassis seem to be working best. |

It seems this question gets asked a lot, I always have the same response. In my opinion most of the top chassis brands are as competitive as the other, it just depends on the drivers ability to tune the chassis to make it go fast. I know there's a lot of drivers out there with more experience, that are able to adjust thier chassis better than I can adjust mine. I ran a '99 Tony Extreem for 3 years in a heavy super box class and was able to win some races, perhaps the Tony is a little more forgiving when it comes to chassis adjustment, as I was never very good at making changes to the chassis.
So naturally when I decided to try the Rotax package I considered the new Tony Mitox. I ended up purchasing a new Truli kart (which is actually an offshoot of the Tony) strickly for the looks, believe it or not I purchased a kart because of the color scheme!
I raced in my very first RMC race a few weeks ago, the Rotax package is new to me, so it took awhile to figure out all the adjustments i.e. jetting, power valve setting, needle placement, I was so busy trying to figure out all this stuff, that I never once made an adjustment the chassis, I raced it exactly the way I rolled it out of the kart shop. yet I was still competitive (finished second).
Remember, I bought this kart because it was pretty, so chassis choice isn't always the science so many make it out to be.

Love the karts but I've gotten a little tired of the Tony green myself.
The Trulli must be red.
Red always seems to be a little faster. |

One aspect to not overlook when selecting a chassis is support & parts availability. If your local market supports the business find a quality chassis at a reputable shop & just buy it.
When you need parts & help you won't regret it. I've seen many top brand chassis winning Rmax races, so I really don't think there's the "ultimate" setup. It's a drivers class, so you can't go wrong with Track Magic, Burel, MBA, Tony Kart, Margay, Arrow. No flames if I missed your favorite chassis. |

Don't leave out the Maranellos. They now have a (SWEET lookin red!) RotaxMax specific chassis.

| I have 3 Rotax Jr. karts, 2 are on the birel AR-4 and 1 is on A Top Kart JT-28, They both work well: the birel seems to be the better of the two brands. There is 1 other Rotax Jr. and 1 Rotax Sr. on the birel AR-4 in our area, All are very competitive. I believe the birel Q-31 should be a better chassis than the AR-4 for the Rotax Sr. I believe you need a softer chassis for the Rotax than for the shifter. |

Ron,
The TopKart JT 28 is a four cycle chassis...with a 35mm axle and only two axle bearings. It won't or shouldn't perform as well as the Birel AR4's.You might consider the Birel AR 28's for the Juniors , they have performed well in our region. |
