When adjusting the exhaust valve, how much should I turn it? Should I turn it 1 ot 2 of those little stops or should I think in terms of full turns? Also, I know its not legal but has anyone run it without the spring?

Each kart is different as the exhaust valve opening/closing is dependant on the spring and different springs have different spring pressures. For the most part you want to come on the pipe at 7500rpm. It is just a matter of making adjustments and letting the stop watch tell you when you are close. Also, just for fun after I believe I have a good setting I will adjust 1 turn out both ways just to see what the kart does. Its all about trial and error.

As soon as I would get over 7000rpm the power would come on real fast. But between 6500-7000rpm I would get a real bad stutter. When I tried to adjust the valve it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I think I didn't make a large enought change. I only turned it half of a turn in either direction. I didn't get much track time, it rained on Saturday and Sunday practice was spent finishing the break-in and learning a new track(OVRP).

I have actually seen this same stutter in this RPM Range as well. I discovered that I was being too aggressive on the throttle when the motor was in the lower RPM range. I have found that during the lower range when the Exhaust Valve was closed, the motor in much more sensitive to the throttle and the throttle must be rolled on very slowly. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

I came from KT-100 & legendcar experience and had the same problem. I would smash the gas and it would fall flat on it's face. I believe there are some other posts regarding this issue as I initially though the carb was to rich or lean on the bottom end. Good Luck
