I have heard the rumor of karts running in the X-games, Has anyone else heard this? Is this a rumor or is it in the works.

Darren:
I haven't heard this rumor, but I must admit to scratching my head and wondering why something as "mundane" as street luge is considered to be such a competitive, agressive, gutsy sport and karting has been left out in left field. I shall cross my fingers. Surely karting is more "sellable" than street luge. |

That's been on my goal list for awhile, but I haven't gotten around to tracking down the X organizers. I'm not sure if someone has done it, but I'd doubt it's happening this year.
Personally, I think the X-Games are in need of some real extreme events. Sorry, but riding down a street with your *** on a skateboard doesn't qualify as extreme to me. "They get up to fifty miles per hour!" Ohhhh!
If they want extreme, they should come out to Willow next month to watch the bikes and karts - that's extreme.

Someone needs to get Biker Sherlock in a shifterkart! Anyone in california with a kart know this guy? Get a couple of the main players of the X games talking about it and it might happen.

Haven't heard that rumor other than this post.
If they do go to the X-games do we get to put suspension on them and compete against the Metal Mulisha......
Take them boys down! Ha. |

| Mike you got it! That's the right guy to get, and after the crash and he gets off we can all look at the back of his driving suit for you know what. But no foolin if a bunch of them street luge guys got on Shifters what great exposure, I'm all for it. |

| Do you know how huge the x-games are. They would be the perfect medium to expose karting. I believe the x-games would do more for karting exposure wise, than anything SKUSA could do. |

| I'm sorry but maybe I'm missing something, I think karting & X games do not mix. I don't know if I would want some of those yahoos jumping on a kart track with me. |

I think Rich is right: we need our own yahoos racing against "us" But to get the recognition thing going, it undoubtedly would help to have the high-profile names to start.
I don't see yahoos being an issue if the field were liberally seeded with SKUSA/IKF etc top guns. And USE the black flag!

Rich and Don, First no one is saying that they are going to have karts in the x-games, 2nd I am sure it would be set up in classes like novice, semi pro, pro. And they would not let any Tom, Dick or Harry drive. 3rd, The x-games are not a bunch of Yahoo's, They need to be respected for overcoming obsticles as they show they can do. Now if I were not in karting and was looking in from the outside might I say "what a bunch of Yahoo's" Respect goes both ways here.
P.S. Look at what they have done with their sport in a vary short time!!!!

| And what happens when the "X-Game" fad passes, does karting go along with it? |

Tim, I do not see the x-games as a fad. If you consider x-games a fad, you are telling alot af people the their "olympics" is not going to be around long. If we can say that the olympics is a fad then, sure, the x-games can be called a fad as well.

Darren, I think the X games is a great idea! Not necessarily to showcase the talent or lack of talent from these "big names" but to showcase our sport of karting. I think any exposure is good exposure at this point.
In fact, about a month ago, I contacted the show "Blind Date". My girlfriend was on the show about a year ago. I thought it would be a good way to get karting "national T.V. exposure". Blind Date loved the idea and came to El Cajon Speedway and filmed the show. Special thanks to Dave from Apex Karting who drove his equipment and crew down from Perris to lend us a hand. As they supplied the karts and equipment. The show should air sometime in November. Special thanks to Glenn from Ekartingnews for hats and stickers so we could promote this great website.
Back to X Games, if there is anyone who knows of a contact for this in California, please let me know. I would be glad to try to make something happen here in California!!

| Brian Lockwood is the guy that is handling SKUSA's broadcasting. He MAY have some connections that could get to the right people. Brian is based out of LA and has done a lot of videos for "extreme sports". I think you can find him by contacting the SKUSA office. |
