Just wondering why the power valves are blanked off on the bike engines when we use them? Is it to make it fair when competing against purpose built shifter kart motors that dont have them?

Does removing and not using them lower engine performance? The Rotax senior and DD2 engines have them in use and they are higher in power than the Rotax Junior engine which doesnt have a power valve Question Question Confused

The power valves are blanked off for a couple of reasons.

First, the RPM we run at is past where most valves work - they would be open most of the time anyway.

Second, exhaust flow can be improved with correctly shaped blanking plug for more performance.

Third, it's simpler. There is less stuff to go wrong!
