For what I am hearing in Twitter Matchett, Hobbs and Buxton have also jump ship and will be with Diffey in the broadcast team.
That combined with live coverage and one more practice seems to indicate that NBC will be pulling all the stops. we'll have to see Thursday. _________________ KART/MARRS

That's what I'm most worried about.
I don't need to hear the IndyCar broadcast team's favorite phrases:
Every pitstop that happens - "The red tires are softer so they'll give more grip but won't last as long. The black tires are harder so they won't be as grippy but will last longer."
And of course the constant explanations of oversteer and understeer.
Matchett, Hobbs, and Varsha did that a bit, but I Matchett's knowledge was pretty in-depth so I actually was learning something when he spoke usually. |
Matchett was the only person worth listening to during the broadcasts on SPEED. Hobbs and Varsha literally would make my ears hurt after 20 minutes. Nothing against the guys personally, but they gave poor descriptions, seemed way too into highlighting the glamour of the sport and even though Hobbs has some motorsport experience, he came off as dull.
Now if you brought Martin Brundle and Matchett on that would get my vote. |

Dull? The Hobbs-isms were great!
In a British accent:
"Alonso is absolutely driving his nuts off at the moment."
His commentary was awesome. _________________ T.J. Koyen

+1 on that. Not to mention he that he didn't go around pretending that the word chassis was the only known noun in the universe. Seriously, let's all take a drink every time Matchete says chassis. _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

Can i get an amen?
I found the characters of the Speed broadcast likable. The end product however missed a lot of things for me. I'm not sure who had creative control over the broadcast, whether this was Speeds doing, or if it was the commentators themselves, I just became tired of a show that pandered to lowest common denominator. I understand that I am not the average viewer (the same goes for all of us around here), but the presentation was too dumbed down. In the end, I found the European counterparts do it better. I don't expect much from the NBC broadcast either. _________________ http://www.Chrislivengood.net

ok, not sure if anyone got a change to watch the Countdown show last night, but it looks like the broadcast will be legit. What did you think? _________________ KART/MARRS
