I see that KM has been raised to .965 for the Pro Series at least.

A rather big jump from .952 that was in 2012. Dangit, JT!

A second subject for you KAC guys:
I also see a listing for JC in the published numbers. IMO JC shoud NEVER be run at a Pro, or any event other than a Regional one, and I thought it was in the rules as such. I hope this is just a case of Rick Ruth being inclusive and without understanding the ban on JC for Pro's. However, some parents, seeing the number as part of the series' rules, will expect that the youngest kids are allowed to run. I hope that a clarification can be published by the National Office.

Alan, does this get used for anything besides bump classes and ladies classes?

I dont envy you guys next season with the .965 for Pros. For some places it's probably needed (Blytheville comes to mind where they had, what, 7 karters or something like that in the top 10 in pax last year), but Lincoln they can really hose you bigtime. Spring nats last year comes to mind, where that course had HP written all over it with that monster straight across the back. Regardless, I'll be there in grid, pushing you guys and cheering you all on.

I do not believe the KAC has any direct input on Pro-Solo rules or index as it is in Howard's hands..... Not sure why they went back to a pro solo specific index??

At pros, index only matters when we don't have 5 karts to make a class and we get dumped into the bump class. I think Paul won the bump class out west once last year. Maybe someone felt out was to easy for him.

As long as KM stays on its own instead of getting grouped regardless of 5 or not. AS will run with FS next season in S4 or whatever the new class is called, I didn't notice if KM was in that list.

James, you might be right. The rules don't list KM separately. It only shows a combined M1 index class.

Anyone know what the rules showed last year? I may have to write a letter to clarify.

FYI .... I was able to confirm that if you have concerns about any specific Pro Solo rules to contact Howard.

As I read the rules, KM remains as a separate class.

http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2013%20SCCA%20ProSolo%20Rules.pdf

From the SCCA's Pro Series Rules, posted on the 15th of this month:

A. ProSolo® National Series Classes
1. All of the current SCCA® National Solo® open classes in the following preparation categories: Stock, Street Touring®, Street Prepared, Street Modified, and Formula 125 (KM), except for those listed in the Stock/Street Index Classes below.

Glad it is that way... If KM would have been combined into a bump class, they'd have lost me as a participant, especially with that higher than ever index. With that number change, I can't imagine any KML driver being willing to step in and take the punishment. May as well run open KM. Shocked

Thats very good that KM is its own class. Karts pax is so course dependent, that bumping/grouping them very rarely results in anything fair. They'll either be hampered by lack of non-sweeper elements (ie a course like Dover or Spring Nats Pro last year, or Toledo in 2011) or be a massive overdog like Blytheville Pro last year. Even with losing Danny/Myself/Edwin/Brian/Justin (jeez, five DC karters, didn't really dawn on me that it was that many), there is more than enough attendence at midwest to east coast pro events to justify KM being it's own class.
