Trackmagic identification and value?

A good buddy of mine got a great deal on a few shifters. One of them is a Trackmagic and he wants to sell it to me. In order for us to not screw eachother, I'm wondering what you guys think it is worth.

I'm not sure what year or model the chassis is. Maybe a Diablo?

Like I said... I'm just trying to identify the kart and the value of the kart from a friend, to a friend. He has some spares like wheels and an axle or two.

Don't know much about the motor... The other karts he bought have K9B machined into case near the clutch, but this one is blank. Does that mean it's a older k9?

What do you guys think?

If I was selling this kart to a good friend:

1) I would grab a few beers, and have the friend pop the jug and check the bearing play with me.
2) I would have the buddy help scale it, and use a tape measure to make sure it was relatively straight. If not we would twist the frame and get it as straight as we could.
3) I would see if the seat fit said friend.
4) I would go through the kart with the friend and make sure it was all in usable condition (brakes have enough meat, engine runs good, tires are usable)

Then I would either start at $3000 and deduct anything it needs from that price, or sell it for $100-$200 over what I paid for it. In the case of a really good friend I'd just figure out what I paid for it and offer it at that price. I'd add $200-$300 for that nice pit kart if I was including it. Keep in mind these are buddy prices, and I don't have the kart in front of me.

It's an 04 diablo IV. This is the last version of the diablo before the FTR came out. The motor is a k9. The chassis looks pretty good shape and would be worth $1000-1200. The engine the same. You should ask how many hours are on the engine. So the real max price shouldn't be more then $2500. Doesn't look to have a mychron? Extras can help the price. Problem of course with trackmagic now is that spindles, brake discs, bumpers can't be bought.

Thanks for the responses... I appreciate the info.

I can't pay him a couple hundred more than he paid because he bought all the stuff as a package and got a killer deal. It's worth much more than he paid for it and that's fine.

I don't believe it needs anything. The kart came from someone who ran SKUSA and had everything needed. He has some spares and could include spindles and brake disks, I'll have to check. I know he has spare plastic for it. I think he has 3 sets of wheels and a set of rains. Maybe extra brake system... not sure.

The package he bought came with scales and we put all the karts on them when he first got them. Again, with my limited knowledge, it seemed like it scaled well. I can't remember the exact corner weights, but nothing out of line.

I have driven it (or rode it, not sure which I did) and the seat fits well. For my experience with karts it seemed to run great and handle fine. We have no idea about the time on the motors, but I expect that with any used motor I buy.

I'm a little worried about the parts availability... So if I bend a spindle the whole kart is junk? That doesn't sound fun. Can they interchange with any other brand?

I was thinking of offering him $3500 with everything but I guess I'll have to find out what "everything" is. Might be a tad too much.

Motor looks like a K9A, still a good motor by today's standards. I ran one last year in road racing and it had no problems beating on K9C's and even KZ10's . Depends who tuned it and how it was tuned I guess. "Factory" crank helps. Parts not a problem for the TM. Value on the motor, anything from $1200- $2500 depending on whether is has a verifiable pedigree/heritage on who tuned it, and condition of the internals. What the buyer intends doing with it and their demographic area has a big part to play in the value as well.

Off the cuff I can't imagine paying over $2500 in the current market. Like Keith said a modern gauge alone will add to costs, you are also looking at a set of plastics to race at most tracks ($200+). Tires are understandably shot (add $70 for a "good" used set).
With the scarceness of the diablo parts, might be better to part it out?
Looks well kept though, that's always a plus.

I guess you could probably swap the spindles out with something from the CRG or SKM lines, but you would need to compare the rake angle and possibly adjust caster to suit. Mounting holes for calipers might be biggest stumbling block.

Short answer, if I had $3500 budget I would lean towards a getting a chassis easier to get parts for. Motor I wouldn't be worried about though.
