|
|
I've never used (or even looked at on other karts) the AIM GPS Module that connects to the Mychron 4, But my son convinced me he NEEDS one.
So now that he has it, I'm trying to figure out where it ideally should be attached, and do you really need to connect it to an external power source? I suspect I've figured it out, but I'd really like some input.
Any info or pics would be GREATLY appreciated. _________________ Straightaways are for fast karts, corners are for fast drivers.... |

Anywhere on top of the fairing works fine.
Bring at least 3 9volts for a weekend if you don't get an external power source. _________________ Matt Dixon

Get an external battery, you don't want the gauge shutting down in the middle of a heat. They will eat batteries faster than a kid will eat a doughnut.

I just bought a sealed 12v 2AH battery that might weigh 2 lbs from Batteries Plus.
$22. _________________ NKN Technical Editor

Thanks for the info, My son will be running Rotax, I'm thinking I can hook it to the Rotax battery with some quick connects? _________________ Straightaways are for fast karts, corners are for fast drivers.... |

The new style GPS includes the data hub as pictured above. We run it on our laydown kart for an entire weekend on a fresh 9V battery with no problems. About 3 hours of track time. _________________ T Howe |

All great info, I think I had it, but was just not sure. Now I just need to figure out how to use it and what all this data actually means!
Going out to the track on Wed and Friday to shake down the new ride, Maybe I'll get some data and see what it tells us.

Robert,
I use an RC car 9V battery taped under the panel. I charge it twice a year. Let me know if you need more info.
You may also want to check with Martin. He has a lot of free time to play with the data analysis ...
