The whole front end on the MP4-28 has been raised up on the McLaren. Looks like they decided the added height restricting the drivers view is worth it.
I like the nose on the Sauber, better then the vanity plate. The step noses on the cars never bothered me.

I honestly didn't actually think that was one of their solutions, just a novel idea I thought of. But I suppose it could work, and it'd have to be a solution that didn't constantly shoot the exhaust to the tires. They'd need to be able to control or turn it off at some point. _________________ T.J. Koyen

The RB9:
Another with tightened pods, the sweep to a larger internal volume from the smaller opening is curious, as well as attractive.
Though it could be changed easily later, the downturn at the tip of the nose seems a little more pronounced, maybe to drawn air up into the underside of the cockpit? Dunno. |

All of these cars are looking great! It seems everyone has steeped it up a few notches on the paint work, as well as the body curves. Cant wait to see them on the track! When's the first night race!? |

From what I've heard the reason the sidepods on the Sauber are tiny are mainly due to the Ferrari lump in the back. If you notice the Ferrari has had smalller and smaller pods as well. From what I've read it's partly due to their partnership with Shell that's helping them with these advances. _________________ Adrian Baran

The RB9 is gorgeous. The downturned nose is super attractive and flowing. And the small sidepod inlets are interesting as well. _________________ T.J. Koyen

I wouldn't buy the RBR I think it'll be a bit different once out on the track. They're keeping their cards close to their vest. _________________ Adrian Baran

I Must admit, the RB9 definitely looks the best so far.
Not to mention that Mr Newey sounds awfully comfortable with the new chassis as well.
My vote is for the RB9! |

Not big on the caterham. The Marussia paint jib is awesome, and flows perfect with the car. Torro Rosso has that awesome new nose (not vanity panel... Just real thin). Petronas definitely looks like the old car, now with the vanity....
Can't wait to see changes they make come round 1! |

I like the new wheel color and the new green on the Caterham. Couldn't stand the old color scheme.
The Marussia looks pretty plain and the livery makes it look like a limo.
The STR car looks beautiful as usual. Love the gold wheels.
The Mercedes is similar to last year's it looks like. _________________ T.J. Koyen

Exactly what I thought. The car is incredibly boring looking imho. |

Did you see the Rosso steering wheel?
Looks to me like the most well designed, and well thought out ergonomic F1 wheel yet.... Looks to me like a video game, controller designer, designed it.
In years passed I wondered why so many teams had some of the essentials so far away from the hands. Almost every adjustment i saw need a hand taken off the wheel. The Rosso wheel looks like almost everything can be done from one of the 4 rollers on the thumbs, and the buttons. The less-touched stuff is left in the center...
Oh, and thanks.... You just ruined the Marussia car or me. I really did like it, then you made that comment and I must agree, it looks like a limo... |

I think the key to understanding this sidepod layout is to first find out where the air entering the opening in front eventually exits...and keeping in mind how clever an aero guy A.N. is!
Given that F1 doesn't allow underside ground effects these days, how about turning the situation upside down...exit some high pressure air on the top surfaces?
