I just finished looking at the online Karting Scene from WKA. It's the Daytona issue. Articles cover the Dirt, Man Cup, and Road Race. I know putting a story with photos together is not an easy task, but in the Road Race article there is not one photo of a laydown kart. Not one. I'm not looking for a photo of me. I'm looking for a photo of a laydown. Any laydown! Some of the Controlled guys were running 127 mph down the back and finished with thousanths of a second after a 45 minute race. One of those Controlled guys probably has 50 Dayonta wins and yet no photos? Is this what they mean when someone talks about being the red headed step child?

Jeeze!

PS: There is a photo in the Man Cup article of a laydown on the banking in the background. I guess I should be thankful for that.

Ok so I am not the only that feels this way. I know the person who wrote the article and took the pictures, and I figured he would at least have one or two pictures of a laydown. I took a few of my own during the week and have some really good pack racing shots. I can only imagine the pictures they have.

If WKA loses alot of racers to the start up other division do you think they will turn their focus to RR or just go belly up?

I think they do good coverage for the MAN-Cup. They used to bring a huge trailer to each race and have all their own race officials and flag man for Man Cup events. On the RR side it all falls on the supporting club to run the race. I think we all pay the same dues but we all don't get the same benefits. I realize the track rental for RR has to be huge compared to rental for a Man Cup race but at least there could be some PR and coverage from the WKA staff (not the local support staff). But for RR its the only game in town for me as they offer the races closest to where I live and on the tracks I like to race it. I have nothing but good things to say about the clubs supporting these races but I would like to see WKA provide some PR support, live coverage would be great, but at least race day results at the end of each day should not be too much to ask and some photo's of some action on the tracks.

I hope things will improve as or if the economy improves but it remains to be seen.

3 things to grow the sport:
-Uniform brake rules between RR and Sprint so racers can race either with same equipment
-Change format of series as it is too costly to race 5 or 7 National races (David Cole has some ideas)
-Promote the series, recruit from Man Cup for those who cannot afford to race cars but want to race on the bigger tracks or Car racers who cannot afford to continue racing cars, or from the bike racers.

I had to look for myself. Very disappointing, zero laydown pictures. Sad
What is going on here?

If it was not for Enduro Races 20+ Years ago Would any of the Orgs. still be around? Once upon a time Enduro Go Karting was the pinnacle of our beloved sport. The same thing that made Karting great could make Karting worse. In My humble opinion Us LAYDOWN ROAD RACERS are still the pinnacle of Karting. How many times have You heard "You will never see Me in one of those on My back going 100 MPH plus? The thought of sitting up in a Kart gives Me the willies Rolling Eyes

I went from my Stock Honda to my F125 laydown and its my first laydown. It sure takes a lot to get used to it..

I like my sit-up better.. Time will tell.

If you would have started the laydown in your younger years, I'd bet you would have a totally different opinion! I recall you stating at Mid-Ohio you would like the laydown a lot better if you could see. Seeing is over rated, just point and go...

The chances of getting launched head over heels in a laydown are far less than racing the sit-up.

Going from a Tater Digger to a Bad Ass F-125 gives You more to get used to then just laying down. It's like comparing a bycycle to a crotch rocket power and speed wise.
