Marco,

You make great points, and those classes do exist.

The Rotax program has Rotax Masters and DD-2 Masters and the SKUSA program has S4, which is Masters Stock Moto. All three classes are single engine classes, which is exactly what you are asking for.

Andy,

Thanks for pointing out those classes I truly believe single engine classes will make karting grow. Karting should be simple it is not F1!!

Noticed you are WKA trustee I have one question. Why did the WKA ever add the X30 to the single engine leopard program when they already have a multi engine class??

Marco so the rules for karting are too hard for people to understand? So cause of this lets make all karting classes single engine format only? So the ignorant can figure it out.

Here is Tag USA rules. Not that hard to understand if you ask me.

http://tagracing.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/2012_TAG_Rules_08.pdf

I looked at the AMA Supercross rules. Easy to understand too.

Isnt Motocross a multi engine format? Why does it work in motocross and not karting?

Numbers are low cause of economy. Not cause of multi engine format. As economy keeps going down so will numbers. If we offer only Leopard class at this point in time. You will limit racers that exist.

Do you think is this economy, all these racers that dont have a Leopard are going to rush out and buy a Leopard? I dont think so, I know Im not. I may rent one for a race here and there.

Racers have to much time and money invested with the engines they have on there karts and spare parts sitting in the trailer. Now we are at the mercy of the new series that will make our engines nothing but paper weights if this happens. Not good if this happens.

Jeff,

We can go back and forth forever and that is also counter productive. So I will only comment this one last time.

As said in a previous post we need to write rules and then build engines as they did with KF!! Motocross I believe is setup the same way. So I guess I do endorse multi engine programs but only with simple rules. I have personally seen many racers buy the wrong package and then have issues and leave since it was not fun to buy twice or to be uncompetative. Example PRD for a 190lbs guy Sad As for being ignorant, as I stated in an earlier post some people don't know the 800 page rule book and don't want too!! This is not a job for most people it is a hobby.

And as for the economy that is an excuse for bad promoters and a crappy class structure. Went to a drag racing event about six months ago and they put our budget to shame and the entries where triple of our big races.

Normally most people really enjoy the fine details of there hobby.

I know I do. I like the bench racing almost as much as the racing. Its no different with other forms of racing or stick and ball sports. Its not a great hobby if you can't do any prep or take interest in what makes the sport tick. Those that want it spoon feed to them or the people that leave quickly and they should. Easy is good, mindless is another thing.

Again, all the lower level younger classes should be one make and simple. If your 40 years old you should be able to choose between a few engines and afford it.

Marco,
I was told at F1NJ (10/27/12) that the GearUp F-125 class was going to be opened up from Leopard only and allow additional engines for 2013. Has that changed?

Just as an aside, from all reports KF has been a dismal failure. I'm not sure that's the model that should be used.

60+ entries for the Winter Cup now that they've fixed the rules somewhat. Not a total failure as it looked a few years ago.

I'm guessing Marco means that there is a set spec the engines have to be built to, and each manufacturer takes a stab at it. Rather than trying to fit engines that were never meant to compete with each other into the same class and using weight to generate parity.

I think the best solution is one engine change per season. We run Leopard at Beaverun and it is very competitive with the TT there. Actually, I think all TaG engines are pretty even across the board there. But I have seen results from other tracks where one engine or another seemed to be a little better suited due to where it pulls harder. We run against the TT and get beat off the corners but catch them on the longer straights. Just takes a little different approach to making passes.

SKUSA has a 1 engine change per season rule in the TaG classes. But don't quote me on the specifics.

Chris,
The F125 will remain a Leopard only class and the program will see an additional class for a very limited multi engine program that includes Rotax,Prd,Rok I suspect 85% Rotax participation. Getting the impression it will be a very promising class since I recieve questions daily Smile We continue in 2013 with only five classes due to the cancellation of Yamaha SR. Chris If you would like all details regarding structure please send email address to info@f1series.com
